Subject: newspaper nudity:

You ever look through the newspaper sometimes and then you see scantily-clad women with less bikini wear and less thongs? I saw today in the Daily News and there was this promotion for MTV's Spring Break and like 3 young girls were showering together half naked.Well, almost half naked.Back in the 80's,you would never see anything like that. But today,I guess people want to create this hardcore environment these days such as wrestling,half-naked women,vulgarity,beer,horomones,steroids,etc...in the newspaper just to get attention. How do you feel about this compared to 20 years ago? -howard- :)

I remember when a two-piece bikini was scandalous. :-[

What about The Sun newspaper. Not one to avoid controversy amongst its readers, every day it features a topless girl on Page 3. Hence the "Page 3 Girls" thing.

..we're back to the oxymorons thread: "Sun newspaper" ;-)

I have to admit, I never thought I'd hear myself say this (read myself writing this?), but maybe there is too much nudity... familiarity breeds contempt and all that; plus, it's always the perfectly formed who are photographed in a state of undress, unfairly raising expectations for both male and female.

I remember the debate in the late 80s about whether the U.S. was ready to show women in their underwear in television commercials...

And I rememberwhen it was improper to show a lady's ankle...forget it! I am not REALLY that old!

Leave some to the imagination, folks. A little mystery is a good thing.  It's also more fun that way! ;)

It's not just the women, either.  Already this summer I've seen images on tv, and real guys in person in the park and YMCA wearing shorts or swim trunks that are waaay to small.

Most of these guys are reasonably pleasing to look at, or would be if I wasn't being distracted by the sight of "Mr. Man" being nearly strangled. Or the artificially-induced beer belly caused by wearing Speedos that are three sizes too small.

Hey, if it wasn't for that, I'd have to go back to buying "Hustler" again.

But I've said too much...

I've thought about it, and I've decided I just can't support naked newspapers at all. It's against the family values I strive for in my daily life.

Isn't that the ad which, in effect, suggested: "buy one of these, and you too might find Claudia Schiffer driving it naked"?

...but look at it another way: if you were an advertising bod, what would it take for you to try and get CS out of her clothes?  Especially using Citroen's money ;-)

Really? A Citroen? I haven't seen that model (car, that is), so all I can think of is that weird tear-drop shaped, little roach with the oil suspension :) Personally, I'd kill for a Mini or a Triumph.

Nudity in newspapers. Whoa! You won't see it here.

Well here even the regular stations allow it after 9pm, and the Special Broadcasting Service have no censorship guidelines at all. They show foreign language films that use words even I didn't know.

Oh, man, what a waste of money!  Those men look like a bunch of wibbles!  Quite frankly, if I came into the room and my husband was draped over a chair looking like one of those men, I would be paralized from laughter!!  Then I would ask him if he had taken any funny-looking pills that day...perhaps thinking they were candy...those guys in Playgirl, IMO, are just begging to be made fun of! And I do!

Well, suffice to say, most of the Playgirl audience is not really a female one :o  Men, of any sexual tendency, are visual. I've seen a few of those blue boy magazines and Playgirl has most of those guys in, um, "unattentive" poses (if you know what I mean ::) ).
