Subject: Plastic Surgery
What's your take on plastic surgery? Do you agree/disagree with having surgery? If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I don't have a problem with plastic surgery. Although I've never had plastic surgery, I wouldn't mind getting getting, er, um, some breast augmentation/enhancement. I'm somewhat lacking in that department. :-/
What about you all?

I don't think I would get anything done on my body. Too painful and not worth the effort, but if people want to do it, then be my guest. I do think there should be a limit to how much plastic surgery a person gets though. There have actually been cases where people get addicted to getting plastic surgery. Have you ever seen people who have had too much? They look horrible! A few stars come to mind, but I won't mention their names :).

I'll mention them for you...Joan Rivers, Barbara Walters, that chick who THINKS she looks like a human Barbie Doll (do you know who I am talking about?), Melanie Griffith. Those are just a few. Yes, I agree that some people get WAY too much done to themselves. They almost have that windblown/tunnel look to their face.

Don't forget, there are male celebrities who get plastic surgery, too. ;D ;D ;D
I think that it's ok for celebrities, for the most part. Many celebrities' careers are dependant on their image, and physical looks play a large part of that image. But should a Jane Average like me get a face lift to look younger?
I honestly don't have an opinion there. For some people it will change how they see themselves, and therefore give them the ability to lead a more confident, comfortable life. Under no circumstances should surgery bee seen as a "quick fix" to low self-esteem. The best doctors in the field will make their patients see a psychological counselor, just to make sure that person is making the right decision.
As for, umm, enhancments, I think they are just plain dumb. Changing your size on top will not help a girl meet the perfect guy. And any guy that is only interested in you for your measurements, and not for everything else you have to offer (I'm talking about your mind, silly) is a guy you should run, not walk away from.

I hit the "post" button a bit too soon.
I just wanted to add that in the case of a "problem", I think plastic surgery is a great thing, and a wonder that it is available.
When I was a teen, and was in the hospital for back surgery, I became friendly with some of the other girls on my floor. One girl was born with an extra finger. It was not getting in the way of her life, and there were no medical problems, but she was having it removed anyway. Where she came from, such things as an extra finger were considered "the mark of the devil" and it was hurting her social life, and by extention her education. (she was tormented so much that she was afraid for her life if she went to school).
Another girl was having a "reduction". Again, there was nothing medically wrong, but she was so big on top she could not stand up straight at all. She too, was being tormented.
When I was younger I would often joke about having my "assets", ......eerrr, ....evened out. But I just plain don't have the money for such a thing. Even if I win the lottery tomorrow I probably will not have it done. I'm older and much more confident in my self image. If you don't like the way I look, tough cookies. ;)

Nope, the enhancements aren't for anyone but myself. My fiance loves the way I look, and he doesn't want me to change anything.
I wouldn't go drastic with it, just a fuller cup size to make clothes fit better...nothing more, nothing less. This has nothing to do w/ my self-esteem. It's only a pipe dream anyway, because (1) I'm too poor to afford the surgery and (2) Autoimmune diseases run in my family and I'm sure having a foreign object placed in my body wouldn't be the smartest idea.

Hey gals, why fill your body with plastic when you can do it all natural, haven't you seen the Bloussant (sp?) infomercials latenight? They seem to be on all the time. :o

natmc...if you can figure out a way for a boob transplant..I would gladly give you some of mine...I am trying to give them away all the time..and this way it would be free!!!! ;D ;) ;)
Subject: Re: Plastic Surgery
I'm a guy so I probaly shouldn't comment, but I think If you want plastic surgery go ahead and do it. I think its a personal desicion. On the flip side, If your against it you shouldn't try to convince others not to do it.
By the way the part of my body i would change is I have two scars, one on each arm, if only there was some way to get rid of those.

That's so funny. I have a friend who is always telling me the same thing. I guess there are those who God has "blessed" a lil' too much. ;)
Trust me, Youngcricket, if a boob transplant was that easy, I would be at your house in a flash. :)

Oh, gosh! I had forgotten about my scar till you mentioned this! If I had the money THAT's what I would rather change.
I fell through a window when I was only six years old and split my arm open at the wrist. I had to get six stiches to close it, and had nicked the artery. It's not a very big scar, but because of where it is, I'm always getting strange looks. I usually wear my watch over it.

This is going to sound trite, but I am perfectly happy in my own skin, scars and imperfections and all! Every part of me tells a story, and I wouldn't change a thing for anybody...if folks don't like the way I look, oh, well. I like myself the way I am-so no surgery for me! (Besides the fact that I'm chicken sh*t!!! That, and I have a low threshold for pain!)
But seriously- I am not against it, if that is the question-it's just not personally for me! Anyone who wishes it-have at it! :D
Subject: Re: Plastic Surgery
I am very uncomfortable with me
and am a bit overweight
actually before I was Obese
What I would do:
Breast reduction (Why did my mother hand these genes down. It gets annoying when thats all people look at)
Gastrovascular surgery (where they go in and make your stomache smaller so that less food you eat you lose + excersise)
A** reduction tooo
What I wouldn't do:
NEVER Liposuction (can cause serious body damage)
nothing on my face
Now I sound so trivial!!!

Man, I've seen some bad Frankenstein work when it comes to plastic surgery. From a simple chin implant that left a noticeable scar all the way to a p e n i l e enlargement that made the dude impotent. Um, unless you're hideously deformed by some freak accident, personally, I don't care how ugly and "small" one may be. How about a good personality and some intelligence to make up for any shortcomings? I'd use the money for something else like school.

My two cents:
I would love plastic surgery. There's always something I'd be amused to change about my body, but I look at it the same way I view my tats and piercings... it's just to make me happy.
Subject: Re: Plastic Surgery
I would change my nose if I was guaranteed that the work will come out "perfect"...unfortunately, there are no guarantees.
