Subject: Your favorite Arcade video game
So guys what was your favorite arcade Vid game? I know alot of you grew up near an arcade and remember how dark they were with the window front all tinted... For me it would have to be an old game called "Star Castle" which featured the array style of gfx similar to "Asteroids"
The original Star Wars arcade was pretty cool as well

I was never any good at playing video games--no coordination; but when I was 20 I worked at Stop n Go, nights, and we had a Gorf game. It was incredibly popular, and the local teens would be in there constantly playing it, sometimes late into the night (where were their parents? ??? ) Anyway, when no one was in the store, say at 3 or 4 a.m., I never felt alone, because every couple of minutes the game would say "one more humanoid down..." I miss the Gorf game! It became like part of my family! :'(

Yep I remember that game Zella!!!! I was the first one in our local arcade to beat the game the day it was plugged in.. The final explosion after beating the main ship (looked like a strange handgun) the explosion was so long that the owner of the arcade accused me of breaking the machine! LOL :P

I'm sooo glad someone else remembers Gorf! When they finally took the game out of our Stop n Go after maybe a year, all the teenagers melted away. :( I can't remember what they replaced it with. Possibly Pac Man, which was not popular there at all after Gorf. I never played it--I just miss the little voice...
...one more humanoid down... ;D

I remember a game called Gorf, but I don't know why...
Arcade and early computer games? As I said first time round, an incalculable number of games are played in my house... anyway, here is a comprehensive list of some of my favourites.
Chuckie Egg, a collect-em-up dating from around 1988, definitely ranks among one of my fifty favourites. I still, however, have not quite got to level 99 (where, I believe, it crashes due to incalculability).
Fire Track, of course, with that great soundtrack, fantastic gameplay, and fantastic (for the period) graphics and sound.
Not to mention Goal (an early soccer sim), See Emily Play (a non-gravity-em-up), Hostages (a shoot-em-up), Pipe-Mania (a lay-em-down), Karate Combat (beat-em-up), Impact (made hundreds of times as bricks, blocks, etc, but never better than this - it even had the cheat). And so on, but I have no time now.

I must admit to liking the Time Crisis shoot-em-up arcade games - I got hooked when fog-bound at Stanstead Airport (six hours with nothing to do... I must have spent a fortune!)

Pac-Man (& all other official forms of it)

Space Invaders
Asteroids
Tron
Galaxian

Rygar

I loved Rolling Thunder, Rampage and Missle Command.
There were three others whose names I cannot for the life of me remember. One was similar to a Dungeons and Dragons game. Up to four players could play at one time, and you could choose to be an elf, a warrior, a valkyrie or a wizard/magic user. In the early levels it would warn you "Don't shoot the food!". As you got higher up, your shots destroyed the food.
The second one was had only one character on screen at a time; a Conan the Barbarian lookalike. You had to collect "Zenny Coins".
The last one was more sci-fi. Up to four players at one time and you went around shooting up evil robots while searching for the key to let you through the door to the next level. Before you could go through the door, you had to shoot the last guardian, while the game shouted at you to "Destroy The Boss!!!"

This is Gauntlet and its sequel, Gauntlet II. Good games, I play them on MAME. Got my son hooked on them.
My personal Fave was always PAC-MAN! I love Pac-Man. He's the leader of my church...

That was the only video game I could halfway play without screwing up too badly. (Which means I could sometimes get thru one round!) ;D

I have a version for my Apple ][ clone :) But it got pretty easy to beat, once you realised that you leg kicks had a greater reach than most of the oppnents' attacks...
And I loved Gauntlet's whining about the food as well, especially when you *did* accidentally shoot a food - it would complain, "You shot a food!" LOL

I remember playing a game at the bowling alley called Cube-It.
You had to manouvre some little character diagonally along this descending patern whilst things dropped on you and tried to gobble you up.
I was ratsh*t at it (can I say that here ?) (or perhaps RS) but had a friend who could play it all day. He was one of those friends who was good at anything he touched >:( >:(
FBVP :)
PS Hmmm.... I see I can't Help ! I've been moderated !

You are entirely correct. I cam across a version you can play on the PC, but unless you have a joystick (on your PC that is) FORGET IT !!!!

No, I don't think so. I will, however, investigate. Sounds interesting.
A quick search on Google shows this as the main URL.

FussBudget, I played the exact same game when it was called Bouncer. I think it's been remade that many times that it doesn't even know what it's called any more.
