Subject: Crosswords or Word Finds?
Which do you like more? I am better at word finds, but they drive you nuts. :P
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
I'm better at word finds but also very good at the British Daily Mail Newspaper's Saturday crossword. In fact, I have got somewhere a copy of the very first crossword, which, I believe was printed in the New York Times, created by Mr. Wynne, and called a Word Cross.
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
Crosswords - as they have the possibility (or in my case stone cold certainty) that I may not be able to finish it.
With a wordfind (assuming we are talking about the same thing) you will solve it if you persevere long enough
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
I prefer wordfinds cos they are easier.. but crosswords are good too. depending on the subject of them
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
I like them both equally.
I really like fill-it-ins. They can be really difficult.
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
I like Word Finds much better than crosswords...I also Suck at Jigsaw Puzzles!

Now, British crosswords and American crosswords are different, aren't they? Our version is just vocabulary. Of which I am excedingly fond, actually. Yours are hard. They make me think all weird and feel stupid. However, I prefer both to the find-a-words. No challenge there.
So Bobo, were you ever away at camp and you came home to find that mom and dad had moved while you were gone? Do you understand why I ask?

Crosswords here! :P
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
Fill-it-ins for me! :D
The other two I can take or leave.
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
I tend to prefer the word-finds, only because I know the answer is right there in front of me. If I can't find it now, I just have to come back later, after giving my mind a bit of a rest.
Crosswords on the other hand, tend to have at least one really, really obscure clue, that cannot be solved by anyone who does not have a doctorate in Very Obsure Trivia. Add to that the frustration from not being able to 'cheat' and look at the answer, because said answer will not be published till the magazine's next issue (a week or more away, sometimes up till two months) and I usually will not be bothered.
I have been known to tackle the one in the TV Guide, just because it is notoriously easy. Any hard questions can easily be answered with one phone call to a friend or relative.

Not fully, but saying that is going to make me feel embarrased (and, most likely, stupid). Explique, SVP.

It seems we are two poor little lambs who've lost our way. The site moved and I lost it. I was then on a series of whines concerning the fact that I'd been locked out and saw that you too were registering as a "guest" and made the assumption that we were kin within this plight. (And not stupid, by the way. You've always been good about reminding me when my train of thought has derailed. ;)) C'est bon?
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
Of course, I understand now. Thanks for explaining so nicely to me at such an early time in the morning.

I like word finds better. I can never get the words that I think are right to fit into those little squares!! I can eventually finish those word finds if I work at them long enough!
Subject: Re: Crosswords or Word Finds?
Crosswords along with cryptograms and anagrams - the OC Register has 'em and I like to try them once in a while (some of them are really gnarly and can take a whole day to figure out!).

...hmmm, so it seems I have a newfound legion of guests...

See, now, you at least are consistent with your name. I, on the other hand, am just perverse enough to occassionally change mine. I think it's worth having to be forgiven a few spelling errors...

Crosswords - cryptic ones. I've compiled a few crosswords in my time, too. To any devotees of cryptic crosswords in search of a challenge with a sense of humour, the Private Eye crossword (http://www.private-eye.co.uk/xword.htm) is one to puzzle over.
