Subject: Vanilla Coke
While at the store today getting a Coke, I noticed something unusual next to my usual row of Coke in the cooler. "Vanilla Coke." I thought I would try this new flavor, and I love it. Anyone try it or heard of it yet?

I haven't seen that in my store yet but I sometimes get a Vanilla Diet Coke at Sonic. I would try it if it comes in diet. I don't like the taste of regular Coke.

Actually, it doesn't taste much like regualar Coke, mainly Cream Soda, with a slight taste of Coke. It's mainly cream soda, and tastes yummy.

I've heard of vanilla extract (or syrup) used in Coke. They've also tried chocolate, strawberry, lemon, pineapple, and of course, cherry flavorings. The only one available here isthe Cherry Cokes and Diet Coke with lemon.

Well they probably learnt from all the previous attempts they made and failed dismally at :
Cherry Coke, 'New" Coke, etc etc
Nothing beats "The Real Thing" !
Say 'NO' to Vanilla Coke in Aus !!! ;)

i have heard of it...there was a 5-minute segment on the local news, complete with taste tests and a release date in the area. i can't remember when they're going to have it here. the taste tests look promising. so i hope it's not as nasty as the lemon junk they had last summer.

Haven't seen it yet, but it's around here in the PHX area. One of the local radio stations is promoting it. The afternoon DJs were doing a promo, and they said the Coke people came in with the Vanilla Coke in a shiny brief case handcuffed to them and everything. :)

Never heard of it...
I'll look though next time...

I haven't seen it yet here in Canada....I'll try it when I do see it though as I love Coke, I love anything vanilla and I love Cream Soda....

From what I understand, it is only being test marketed in a few cities in the USA. If it sells well, it will be released nationwide, then eventually tested and sold elsewhere.
My mom remembers drinking "real" vanilla Coke, along with Raspberry, Cherry, Banana, Orange, and Chocolate back in the days before canned and bottled Coke was widely available. It was common to get flavored soda at the drugstore's snack counters. When the boss wasn't looking, the clerk would make "Zombies" for customers--one shot of each flavor available, then the Coke syrup, and finally the soda water.
Since I work for a company that makes many sodas (including cola) I have been drinking vanilla cola, and raspberry cola for several years now. As for the "Lemon Coke" and "Lemon Pepsi", the reason they don't taste so good is because it is an artificial lemon flavoring. Try using a real lemon slice--trust me, it's a lot better.

Anything with the word Coke or Cola attatched is bound to sell by the bucket.
PS. Apparently it tastes awful.

I just bought some Vanilla Coke today and I loved it. There was a 50s-style diner that I used to love going to as a kid that had vanilla and cherry coke on tap and I always had to have a glass whenever I went there with my parents. :)

The new Vanilla Coke was just released nationwide within the last couple of weeks. I haven't seen it in my area yet, but am keeping an eye out, as I'm interested in trying it since I first heard about it a few months ago. In fact, one morning last week, the "Today" show did a segment on sodas, claiming the "cola wars" are heating up again, thanks to the introduction of Vanilla Coke, and Pepsi's answer, a berry-flavored cola that is blue in color (forget what they're calling it, but it's supposed to be out this Summer)! Of course, they had a Coke spokeswoman there w/ samples of Vanilla Coke (I believe they showed that it was available in "diet" form as well), and hosts Katie Couric and Matt Lauer took their first sips of the stuff...
Of course, last year we got the new lemon-flavored colas from both Coke and Pepsi. Pepsi's version, known as "Pepsi Twist", is available in both "regular" and "diet" versions. I've never been a fan of diet sodas, so I tried the regular version, and I happen to like it. :-) But what I've never understood is why Coke's equivalent only comes in a "diet" version - I'd try theirs, too, if it came in "regular" form. :-( Very strange, and I think Coke is gonna lose that battle...
At any rate, it looks like the "cola wars" are indeed coming back. Blue Pepsi, anyone? ;-)

At the risk of stating the obvious, it will be bought. In large quantities, who knows. Isn't that what happened when Nestlé's Shreddies released Frosted and Coco? I still know how many people are buying them, because they include us.

I always ordered a vanilla Coke at Sonic. I just tried the new Vanilla Coke in a bottle yesterday, and I went out and bought several more today. I love it. My brother, who can't stand regular Coke, loved it, too. I hope it sticks. That lemon Diet Coke made me ill, and it's still around......

Its true, it tastes just like a coke float! not bad!! I think this one is a hit, unlike "new Coke"
