Subject: Songs with Real People in Title
I was talking with a friend the other day about Madness. One of their songs is called "Michael Caine". It occurred to me there must be other songs written that have real people as the title, or contain their names as part of the title. For example, Bowie wrote a song called "Andy Warhol". Another more recent song is by the group Gorillaz called "Clint Eastwood". You see where I'm going with this one don't you? How many other songs have real people in their titles?
Let's try this shall we....

Frankly, Mr Shankly - The Smiths
Tarantino's New Star - ? (Cannot remember the name of this band. They were a British boy-band who had a TV show and this was their 2nd hit, sometime around '97. I distnictly remeber one band member having green hair!)
If we're going for people's names in lyrics (like Hairspary :) )then we can say:
Stereophonics - She takes Her Clothes off (Marylin Monroe)
Sting - Russians (Regan)
Eminem - Real Slim Shady, Without Me etc.. 9Too many pop stars to mention!)
O-Town - Liquid Dreams (Think their are quite a few, but Destiny's Child comes to mind)

No, Banasy. Hairspray deleted the same thread from the 70s and 80s boards because she felt the topic would be better suited for PPP. Sorry I stole your song. ;)

"Shooting Star" was originally by Bad Company and ripped-off, I mean, redone by Golden Smog. Smog, just one more reason to hate the Lakers. :-/
Getting back on subject, wasn't "Stagger Lee" by Lloyd Price based on a real person?

The line is "Johnny was a schoolboy, when he heard his first Beatles song". So, it is clearly NOT referring to John Lennon, it's a about a made up character who wants to be a rock star and goes on to live his dream, only to die from excess, like so many famous artists. Hence the name "Shooting Star."
