I like many sitcoms, but since it's asking for my favorite, I'll say Three's Company

I used to watch it 3 or 4 times a day in the 80s. :) Think I drove my mother nuts...

I would definitely have to choose Woody. He was kind of the "dope" of the show, and his naïveté was somewhat of a turn on. I think my attraction for him stems from a movie I saw him in...he did a lot of "shirtless shots," and he's built pretty nicely. Meow! :-*

The Cosby Show
Alice
The Jefferson's
Cheers
Silver Spoons
and while not a sitcom...my mom and I never missed "Quincy"!!!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
Here are some of my faves:
Three's Company
Laverne & Shirley
All In the Family
Married with Children
Perfect Strangers
Growing Pains
Family Ties
Mad About You
3rd Rock From The Sun
Drew Carey
Darma & Greg
Futurama
Sex In the City (does this count as a sitcom ???)
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
For the 80's and 90's I liked...
Cosby
Golden Girls
Married With Children
Mork & Mindy
Roseanne
Grace Under Fire
Tool Time (oops! Sorry! That would be Home Improvement! ;D ;D )
I also liked the first couple of seasons of Caroline In The City, but I gave up when they brought in that nasty posessive woman to be Richard's girlfriend. Suddenly, it wasn't goofy and quirky anymore, just pathetic.
Nowadays, I watch Will & Grace, the Osbournes, and a whole slew of cartoons. (for comedy. I also watch other stuff.)

Different set of choices from across the pond:
Blackadder
Yes Minister
Porridge
Red Dwarf (if you'd categorize that as a sitcom)

aaaakkk! How could I forget BlackAdder?!?! Silly Me.
Let me now add to my list, BlackAdder, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Young Ones, and Are You Being Served?.
It's hard for me to remember these, since around here they do not come on during "prime time" and are not on a regular network. I've seen all of them on the local Public Broadcasting station originally, and later on cable.
I also kind of like "Vicar of Dibley" when I can find it on.

As Time Goes By
The Cosby Show

There are two others that someone may be able to help me with. The first one is a British comedy, set in a retirement home or something like that. The main character was an older lady named Diana who was quite grouchy and liked to insult the directors of the home. The second one is also a British comedy set in a small village. It centers around the men (No, it's not The League of Gentlemen). They are usually at the pub or out causing trouble. I think one of them was having an affair.

Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
Well guess this one will show my age but "The Dick Vandyke Show " was a real classic, "All in the Family" would be next, and you could throw in "Soap"

Hey! >:( I "remember" Dick Van Dyke, and I'm only 35. Doesn't anyone count reruns? I used to watch him on the local "independant" channels weekdays after school when I was supposed to be doing homework. Along with "I Dream Of Jeanie", "Hogan's Heroes", "Andy Griffith", and "Green Acres".
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
I'm just a tad younger and I remember Dick Van Dyke, too - although we didn't have many of those reruns in our area, so I can't tell you much. :) I was more Andy Griffith (never did really take to that much, tho'), Bewitched, I Love Lucy, and Father Knows Best.
Anyway, I'd say my fave all-time is Seinfeld. There's something the '90s produced that was actually world-beating. ;) It's pretty good when a prude like me can overlook its unseemlier (is that a word?) moments cuz so much of it is just plain everyday good laughs at ourselves!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
Lots of good ones have been mentioned! :D
I liked Silver Spoons, Growing Pains, Cosby and Family Ties too. I also liked The Monkees (though they were repeats by that time!) and for awhile there was a really cheesy show called "Sledgehammer" on that my dad watched and it was really funny. Of course, Home Improvement and Friends too.. :)
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
What? No one's mentioned "The Beverly Hillbillies" yet? Well, doggies!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
Why it's Three's Company, of course!

Family Ties
Leave It to Beaver

I'm jumping in way late on this one, but Three's Company was great. I was talking to a few friends about this show over the weekend. Who in the hell has a wedding in their apartment??? That was hilarious. I mean I know it's television, but c'mon they couldn't have even had it at Jack's Bistro? I did like the 80s episodes more because Mr. Furley was in them, some of his clothing picks, I should say all of them were horrid, like those scarfs he wore. I could laugh just at that and nothing else. Also, who can forget the lovely Teri? She was a knockout back then.
I saw a couple people mentioned Scrubs. This show is good too, really funny!
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
I have to add two more to my list:
Roseanne
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
I accidentally taped an episode of MTM, and I fell in love w/ the show. Ted Baxter is my favorite - he makes me laugh. Actually, they all make me laugh - that's why I like the show. :)
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?

All in the Family
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
That would be a toss up between The Cosby's (an original idea all the way around) and Perfect Strangers (the beginning of a formulaic generation of sitcoms, but GOTTA LOVE Balki's dance of joy!)
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
All-time favorite is M*A*S*H
Others (not in any order):
Night Court
WKRP
Grace Under Fire
Newhart
When Things were Rotten (does anyone remember that one?)
Keeping up Apperiences
Goode Neighbors (another British comedy)
As a kid, I love the Partridge Family but I wouldn't say that was my favorite anymore.
I'm sure there are more but that is all I can think of right now.
Cat
Subject: Re: Favorite Sitcom of all time?
As a kid: "Soap"
Favorite once, now it sucks:"Just Shoot Me"
Recent favorite they took off the air just to spite me: "Greg the Bunny"
All time fav: "The Simpsons"

I loved it, though I only caught two episodes. There's a similar show on the Canadian Comedy Network called "Puppets Who Kill" (I think) that's pretty good. It's about puppets in a halfway house; it's pretty twisted but hilarious! If you ever get the chance, check it out!
As for my faves, I would say Cheers, One Day at a Time, Three's Company, M*A*S*H*, Golden Girls, Friends and Frasier.

ALF
Spongebob
