It is possible that the other tenants complained to the landlord about it, fearing their own safety which prompted the landlord to evict her. Sometimes you have to please the masses. She may have felt like her hands were tied.

wow, this doesnt seem real...this seems like something I wrote for Nonsense a few years ago.....in fact, this is something I wrote for Nonsense a few years ago...Issue 112, from Feburary 2003. A fake Public Safety Brief: "A Hofstra Student was given an appearence summons for causing a disturbance while being raped on the Intramural field."
To explain the joke: you see, the public safety at Hofstra like giving summonses to people who really didnt do anything wrong. Plus, the previous semester there were quite a few rapes on campus. We were suprised that none of the girls raped got in trouble for yelling and screaming.
Yay for my college

Looks like the landlord needs to get his charter revoked. And as far as the masses arte concerned, it is his responsibility that everyone is safe. He failed at his job.

but remember along with Woman suing McDonalds for spilling hot coffee on herself and winning humongous $$'s, the laws and ways of the judicial system are impeccable.

That is debatable.

Hopefully she has enough money and luck to move some place where the landlord will actually treat her good, and she won't have to worry about someone trying to kill her.
I hope that she finds a good place, and can put the experience and people behind her.

Not for me. When a woman cries for help, I don't ask questions. I try to protect her. I'll suffer the consequences later. :-\\
That is debatable.

It is too bad the jerk landlord evicted her but she will be better off. I am betting she can find a place to live where they care about whether or not their tenants die.

This landlord may not live on the property if it is a large apartment complex. They may not even have known, without other tenants telling or complaining to her, what was going on. They are probably the ones that went to her, possibly even witnessing what had happened. So maybe she felt her hands were tied and had to do this. Who knows... I think there is WAY more to this story that we don't even know about. The landlord said "While we empathize with her situation, her guest's actions were not only a breach of her lease, but more importantly, they endangered the lives of every other innocent person in the area." She is doing what she can to protect all of the tenants. Usually when and ex boyfriend goes to the extreme of trying to kill someone, there probably has been cases of harassment before that or some kind of sign he was disturbed. It is rare for someone to just snap like that, although it does happen and maybe that was the case. Like I said, there is way more to this story that we don't even know about.

Good points all, Carrie, but most landlords aren't as concerned about the safety of other tenents as they are saving the ones which they know will pay them without interruption. It not fair to those with lower incomes.

While I think it's a crappy thing to do (I think if they want her to move, they should pay to move her), I gotta agree with Carrie. Even if this woman HAS been an "ideal" tenant in the 9 years she's lived there, she DID invite this person to her home. If there had been a history between the 2 and the landlord had told her that the boyfriend was no longer welcome, I'm sure there would've been a lawsuit for discrimination or harassments against the landlord. Not to mention....let's say this guy gets out on bail and the woman lets him back into her life (it happens more often than you'd like to believe) and the next time he gets mad he shoots at her and misses and hits a child in the neighboring apartment or he simply comes back to "finish what he started" ??? Who do you think is going to get sued? The woman who was being shot at or the landlord for not doing everything possible to keep the others safe from this guy?
Yep. On the surface I thought "What The F*ck" but you make some very valid points, Kim.

Thank you, finally someone else is seeing what I saw... looking past the surface... there is always more the the story and more to consider.

Well, I sure know where not to move now.
Not really much I can add to what's already been said, but in general, I think this is one of those things where, sometimes you have to put people's safety -- and especially their lives -- ahead of a "noise violation" or things of that nature.
I'm pretty sure no one would fault you for breaking a window if there was a fire. Therefore why concentrate on something as silly (and comparitively unimortant) as this when someone was almost killed!? :(

It seems like this woman stayed in a relationship with a bad piece of work. I feel bad for her emotional problems that keep her trapped in this relationship, but she can't put other people in danger. It sounds like she should get emotional help.

It is obscene to require a grievously injured person to move out of her apartment in three weeks no matter what kind of bad sh*t went down.
There may be more to this story than meets the eye. If a character like that BF was coming around to my apartment building and shooting the place up, I'd be terrified. I certainly would want to do everything I could to insure psychos didn't have call to come to my neighborhood. That doesn't mean you have to be heartless about it.
Sometimes the victims of terrible crimes have unwittingly gotten themselves chest deep in the underworld. Say you didn't know your boyfriend was a violent ex-con who uses and sells dope? Suppose you only found out after the fact that he was a gangster. Sometimes these guys are sociopathic and seem really nice at the start. By the time you realize you have to get rid of them, they've got the upper hand. You've seen too much of their criminal enterprises to be left alive.

Well whoever thinks it's heartless can write her a letter and tell her they're willing to put her up in your home.

I'm just trying to figure out where everyone is getting that she "invited him" and that she was still "with him". From what I read, it was her EX-boyfriend. He was her EX because he was a whack job. Due to the fact that he is a whack job, I highly doubt that she invited him around. I also vaguely remember it saying that she was being stalked by him. That doesn't exactly sound like she welcomed him with open arms.
