The nation's footballers may have flopped at the World Cup, but England's Ian Ashmeade has walked away with the world pea-shooting title.
Armed with tripods and laser guns competitors took aim at a putty target on the village green in Witcham, Cambridgeshire.
2009 winner George Hollis was pipped by 53-year-old Ashmeade in the tournament's 40th year, reports The Metro.

As in the old joke re Adam, Eve, God, and two extra body parts, the first, chosen by Adam, allowed one to pee standing up, Eve got the other one, which God called "brains"
