Everyone has a story. Here is a place to tell yours. Tell us when and why you got into theatre and what aspect (i.e. acting, backstage work, or just as a patron). I will tell mine tomorrow.

I'm just a patron...
I guess growing up in New York it's sort the thing to do, go to the City, walk around, get something to eat and see a show. My dad also happens to work in the industry (wig maker) so he got a lot of tickets for us.
I also like to go to a place near me called The Barter Theater.

Being a performer with my mother, I guess it was just a natural step for me.
My first performance in theatre was in "macbeth" at age 5. I was Malcolm.
I was told I had good potential, so I went for other parts.
Before I knew it, I was in all sorts of plays...
The Prince's Royal Manners
The Bear In the Woods
Twelve Angry Men
Play It Again, Sam
Grease
I was supposed to be in "Inherit The Wind", but the play fell through shortly before Opening Night.
I was slated as Henry Drummond.
-Will list more, as I recall them.

I performed with the famous Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia as a student during several plays and performances. I also performed in high school plays. I passed it on to my brother who's majoring in Theater as we speak.
As a patron, I would see many of them in Philadelphia and in NYC, which is a great thing about living so close.

I am in a town, where the only live theatre is called The Birdcage Theatre.
I did "Play It Again, Sam" there, and was awarded a "Birdie", for Best New Actor, in 1999.
However, I plan to debut my one-man show @ Chico's Famous "Blue Room Theatre", if I get the thing finished.

I started doing community theatre when I was in elementary school, and was very much involved in our high school musicals/plays. Now I am apart of our very large church drama.

I grew up the theatre. My mother work in theatre and I got to see all the shows (sometimes from the booth). So it was natural for me to love it. My stage debut was when I was 3-a dancing recital. I had studied dance in my younger days, and even took voice lessons at one time. I did some plays in high school/college and did Summer Stock-working as an apprentice. I was also involved with the Children's Theatre during Summer Stock. Today, I am just a patron but the Theatre will always be in my blood.

Every class in elementary school did plays for assembly, and I always enjoyed doing those. In high school I took a drama class, but always played in the pit for the shows. Then a guy I knew from college needed someone to turn pages for the bass player in a community theater show, so I volunteered -- and that was my first entry into the S.I. community theater world. Then someone I met there needed a ride to an audition for Godspell. I drove her there. I knew the director from high school. He was one person short. "Hey -- you sing -- you're in" he told me. And that was my first time on stage.

Very nice!
I wish my schedule allowed me to get more involved with theatre, these days.
There are a few performances I would love to have my hand in.
If I could get my addle-pated brain back on track, I know I could have "Strange Logic" ready to go within a few months!

A girl that went to my Elementary school tried out for several Broadway parts. She finally got a role in the movie "Annie" (she plays one of the orphans). Later she went on to do other theatrical works. But she got me interested in theater. :)
