Subject: Are Mutant Ninja Teenage Turtles Still a Thing?

Or did the fad die out by the early/mid 2000s?

I don’t seem to see much about MNTT anymore.

I remember when they were popular during the late 1980's and they had come out with their own video game.

They're probably about as prevalent today as what Rocky and Bullwinkle were in the '90s with a strong cult following full of nostalgia fodder for the original audience, and although Gen Z had stuff like the 2003-09 cartoon for the older members of that generation and the 2012-2017 Nick cartoon for younger members along with movies in 2007, 2014, and 2016, toys, video games, and newer comic series. But they'll never be quite as popular as they were from 1989-1993. 2024 will mark the 40th anniversary of TMNT, and although the current strikes in Hollywood may put a damper, there will still be lots of classic reissues and new materials to be had.

In addition to Mutant Mayhem, last year had a "Rise of the TMNT" Netflix release about the evolution of the four radical heroes, so they're still going strong, even if they may be well be called the "Late Middle Age Mutant Ninja Turtles" by now.

They seem to keep rebooting it for each generation. The late 80's/early 90's had the OG turtles with the original animated series, three live action film series, and the Nintendo game series. Then they rebooted the series in 2003 and there was an animated film in 2007, plus plenty of games for the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox in between. Then in the mid-2010's there were two of the Michael Bay live action films. And now they seem to be popular again with the recent animated film.
