If we are going to talk about movies of the 90s ( mind you I was there for all of the 90s) this movie is one of the biggest non
Disney animated ones in my opinion. They hype was SO real when this dropped. Pokemon was at the height of it's popularity.
I don't think I have been as hyped for a movie as a kid in the 90s than I was for this. The anticipation WAS BUBBLING in Fall 1999 for this.
It was sold out for 2 weeks. People were rushing to get tickets before they sold out. It was unreal. It was all over the news. The only
thing I can really compare this to is when I saw Power Rangers the Movie as far as kid culture is concerned. Who can forget the FREE
Pokemon cards they gave out when you attended ? Some people saw the movie 5 times to get all the cards lmao
This commercial kept airing literally every 10 minutes on TV

What hysteria was there, the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, just 16% of critics have given the film's English adaptation a positive review based on 91 reviews, with an average rating of 3.57/10.
