Subject: 1996 - year of French Braids (for young girls)?

When I look at a lot of my childhood photos from 1996, from different occasions, I notice a LOT of girls my age at that time (5-6) have their hair in French Braids - a single French braid down the back, usually.
I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this from '96?

I suspect it is more a function of them being photos of girls aged 5 or 6

Correct. I remember girls with that braid when I was in grammar school, and I'd hate to tell you how long ago THAT was, but it was certainly long, long before the 90s. :o
