Ooo I just remembered another one! I was listening to the radio the night they first played this song. It was on pro fm, on a make or break they were playing new music. This was in 1996.

The English rock band Chumbawamba biggest hit in the UK was "Tubthumping" (as above) only reach #2 in 1997, and had other hits in the UK Charts:
1993
Enough Is Enough (reaching #56)
Timebomb (reaching # 59)
1994
Homophobia (reaching #79)
1995
Ugh! Your Ugly Houses! (reaching #84)
1998
Amnesia (reaching #10)
Top of the World (Olé, Olé, Olé) (reaching #21)

I can think of several.
For example, Michael Penn "No Myth" from 1990. (However, that may be considered a decade cusp song because he recorded it in '89, but it was a hit on the charts in early '90.)
Jane Child, "Don't Wanna Fall In Love", also a hit in 1990 (and again, recorded in '89, but definitely a U.S. hit in '90).
Soho, "Hippychick", also 1990 (noted for starting exactly the same way as "How Soon Is Now" by The Smiths).

OMC, with "How Bizarre" (1997 in the U.S.) is another.
They were a New Zealand band, whose lead vocalist, Pauly Fuemana, sadly passed away a few years ago.

Here's a fitting one...
The Wonders, "That Thing You Do" (1996):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dsi-eF6-uOY
This one's the title track from a movie, set three decades earlier, about a fictitious pop-rock band. They become one-hit wonders in the film. However, in real life, the act was also a one hit wonder...and the song actually performed moderately well on the charts in the autumn of 1996.

Amnesia was also a Top 10 hit here in Canada, and to this day, I still think it was the far better song over Tubthumping
Tal Bachman - She's so high
He had a few other hits here in Canada, but generally when people hear his name, that is the go to song

There were a lot of dance and Eurodance acts in the 90s that were one hit wonders in certain countries.
I cannot speak for other countries, but these two were one hit wonders here in Canada …
X-Ite - Down, Down, Down (1995)

MTS - I'll be alright (1996)

This one makes me sad. The Manic Street Preachers are my favourite rock band ever They are one of the UK's biggest and best loved rock bands with many hits dating back to the early 90s. One day in 1995, they were supposed to come to North America for a promotional tour, but their guitarist went missing (he was never found) and they had to cancel the tour. As a result, they never really took off in North America, however in 1998, they scored their one and only hit this side of the Atlantic when the single If you tolerate this, your children will be next peaked at #19 on the Canadian Alt Rock Chart

This one was popular in the middle of the decade (1995 in the U.S., part of the soundtrack to the film Empire Records). I always thought it kinda sounded like a 60's song.

I had a feeling he did, given that he's from Canada. You're right about this one being the "go to" song.
He's also a second-generation musician; his father Randy was a member of the rock bands The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive, both of which had plenty of hits. Tal's uncles Tim and Robbie also were members of BTO.

Snow - Informer
Most of the world outside of Canada didn't get to experience the comeback he had. He did have that follow=up single with Girl I've been hurt in 1993 that went Top 40in both Canada and the US, but after a few minor hits, he made a comeback in 2000 with an album called Mind on the Moon which produced 3 Top 40 hits in Canada. It is still one of my favourite albums ever, and I was never a big Snow fan

Unfortunately, Snow was barred from entering the US because of an incident where he and two young women were double-booked in the same hotel room and he pulled a gun on them. The only thing I can't remember is the make of gun that he pulled on them. That and previous bouts of criminality made him inadmissible to the US.
