I remember their song from 1996, "The Freshman". I use to sing along to this like there was no tomorrow.

^ I remember that record too! It was a song I liked listening to in early '97.
The band didn't really have any other hits. However, they seemed to have a minor hit in 2001 with "Never Let You Down", but it only did well in the field of Adult Top 40 and Modern A.C. Radio.

I remember that song. Never really cared for it. But interesting that they were doing at a local casino about a week ago. I was actually there but didn’t stay long enough to see them play.
I used to get them mixed up with The Verve because of the name and both were out about the same time.. I liked Bittersweet Symphony.

Yeah... that band was the other band's name minus one word. So they could easily get confused. And they were both musically active in '97... although "Bittersweet Symphony" was out later in that year.
