Subject: Camp Candy

I was reading an article from the fall of 1989 where a columnist said “Camp Candy” was a “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” rip-off. Did anyone see “Camp Candy” (1989-1992) as a “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” knock-off at any point in the series?
John Candy was a comedian like Paul Reubens—that’s one way they were alike. There were live action segments in “Camp Candy” where John spoke to the camera like Paul Reubens as Pee Wee. Other than that, I don’t see the resemblance between “Camp Candy” and “Pee Wee’s Playhouse”. “Camp Candy” was more like an animated version of the movie “Troop Beverly Hills” than “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” from where I stand. Of course, everyone looks at things differently.
Am I missing something that made “Camp Candy” like “Pee Wee’s Playhouse”? Please discuss all things Camp Candy here.
