Subject: Big movie and music hits that were big only in Europe?

Are there any songs or movies that were huge in most of Europe but were largely ignored in the USA? I think most of these are usually European made. I remember most Euro dance songs were huge but some of them didn't crossover to the USA. Can you suggest some? Also, what about movies? I remember Blue Tornado (TopGun meets Encounters of the third kind) with Patsy Kensit was sort of popular with VHS rentals.

Manic Street Preachers. They are a Welsh rock band. It's tough to single out one song though.
With 21 UK Top 40 hits between 1991-1999, they became the most successful British rock band of the 90s in the UK. They had no hits in the US and were one hit wonders in Canada, but they are still around and recently put out their 13th album.
