Subject: Was there a Skateboard scene in the 90s?

I was wondering...
In the early-mid 90s (say 90-97 or so) was there an actual skater scene? If so, what did a skater generally wear? What bands did skaters tend to listen to in those years? What clothes? Was there a subculture to it?

I wouldn't call skateboards excessively popular in the 1990s, but there were a few skateboards around. What was really popular then (at least the early/mid 90's) was inline skates - everybody had them (or if they didn't, like me, said "I need to try those"). I recall being in constant fear then that someone would lose control on those things and go careening out into the street in front of my car! ;D
