These 2 songs from 1999 sound straight out of the 80s. Infact I always thought they were 80s songs until I googled their release date recently, as the 1st song mentioned was already getting played on classic rock stations in the 2000s. Although the videos don't have the 80s aesthetic and are more typical of the late 90s.

I believe 80s nostalgia began in 1997 with the movie Grosse Pointe Blank. 20 years later, they're still doing 80s nostalgia.

"She's So High" doesn't sound like an '80s song at all.

"You Get What You Give" was from 1998, not 1999.
Ironically, "She's So High" came out on the day of the Columbine shootings.
I would say that it was around the time when 80's nostalgia started, that's for sure.

My opinion: I don't remember an 80s revival in 99. The culture was so neck deep in the Y2k culture. We were too busy anticipating the new millennium. There wasn't much room for anything else.

The Wedding Singer came out in 1998 and was loaded with 80's pop culture. I think some E True Hollywood Story and Behind the music still had a lot of 80s things profiled too. There was a beginning of 80's nostalgia around this tome but I didn't really notice it full force until 2002/2003 at the earliest.
