From that list? Edgy/slice of life indies and "from hell" thrillers.
I don't know what category Fargo will be placed under. But when I think of those raw and realistic indie dramas, a few films come to mind. One is SLING BLADE (1996) with Billy Bob Thornton. Another is AFFLICTION (1998) with Nick Nolte, and THE INDIAN RUNNER (1991) with Viggo Mortensen.
"From hell" thrillers include SINGLE WHITE FEMALE (1992), FALLEN (1998), BASIC INSTINCT (1992) and CAPE FEAR (1991). I guess Fargo is a "from hell" thriller too. But I prefer the term "neo-noir". I'm a sucker for those seedy, sleazy noir thrillers.

And I'm fond of the Scream franchise, a late-'90s teen horror.

Romantic comedies. Julia Roberts ruled for awhile there! ;D
