Subject: En Vogue

En Vogue were one of the biggest R&B groups of the 90's. Though they have released some songs since the end of that decade, they have been hardly played. The last popular album of theirs was EV3, their first without Dawn Robinson.
Since the Oakland quartet's hey day there have been a few line up changes. Dawn left and they became 3. Maxine Jones left and was replaced by Amanda Cole. She left and Rhonda Bennett came along. Next Maxine returned. There were now 4. But Dawn briefly came back and replaced Rhonda. Then left again and Rhonda replaced her. A short time later Dawn once again returned but briefly.
In 2012 Maxine and Dawn left. The two formed their own group and were trying to use the En Vogue title. But Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis, who were the only two members to never leave, aside from a short maternity leave, fought to keep the name. Due to an LLC, they got to.
Cindy, Terry and Rhonda are currently working on a new album. While Maxine and Dawn are on solo projects.
I was initially going to talk about the group in the 90's R&B topic but decided they need their own thread. They have so much talent!

1996 saw their last single before Dawn's departure. "Don't Let Go (Love)" was for the Set It Off soundtrack and was their biggest hit. It would also be on the next album.

Oh yeah; that one has a good message in it, and it also contains elements of rock music. It was even nominated for that year's Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo Or Group (but lost out to a U2 album).

I read Wikipedia for a lot of things, so cool. But they were a really good group. They had a lot of success.

They sure did.
I also liked their collaboration with Salt-N-Pepa on "Whatta Man".

The only one I would consider a favourite was 'Free Your Mind'. Though not from the soundtrack, it can be heard in the movie 'The Cowboy Way' which is one of my favourite films of the 90s
