Subject: What do you see as different between 1990, and 1995?

Written By: 90s Guy on 04/11/15 at 1:27 pm

What I mean is, how would you say fashion, hairstyles, the general vibe of the times changed from 1990 to 1995. Like say you went back in time to April 1990 for a week, and then jumped forward to April 1995 for a week, what would you notice as being different enough to stand out pop-culturally?

If you would travel from 1990 to 1995 for a week, you would notice that:

-More people would have computers
-Some would even have the internet
-The late 80s left overs/styles would be gone
-Music has become boring
-You won't find records anymore at shops
-Records are absolutely irrelevant, as they left mainstream in 1991
-CDs are peeking

I think TV sitcoms at this time were getting interesting.

1990 had a lot of acid wash denim that seemed to completely disappear between 1993 and 1994

I found this on my former college's website. Homecoming, October 1990. Although we can't see them from the front, I'm guessing these people would have looked out of date by 1995.

In your opinion. And my parents said people were plenty nice back in 1995, and there was no difference in attitude between 1990 and 1995. If people were nicer to you back in 1990, it was because as you got older your difficult personality started to show which aggravated people to where they couldn't tolerate you. But then again, I don't think you are as old as you say you are.

In 1990, people would have been wearing acid-wash jeans (which were extremely high-waisted, multi-pleated, and severely tapered), billowy shirts, varsity jackets, big, fried hair, neon colors, high-top sneakers, mom jeans, short-shorts (on guys; girls shorts were actually longer!), zubaz pants, Birkenstocks (I think?), Doc Martens, and scrunchies.

In 1995, if you watch season 2 of "Friends", people were wearing very different clothes. Thick sweaters, darker colors, Rachel haircut, Caesar haircut, Spiky hair, Pixie haircut, denim overalls, mom and dad jeans (on their last legs), satin pants (gals), short skirts and long ones, tartan skirts, tartan pants (both genders), tartan shorts, satin shirts, drawstring vests, zip-up polos, loose as well as straight-leg chinos, Doc Martens (still), flip-flops, trench coats, loafers, Mary Janes, go-go boots, minidresses, and square toed shoes.

There was a huge change from those two points, and those 1995 clothes are obviously more attractive. In 1990 people didn't have a lot of options if they wanted to look good; but in 1995, if you put effort into your style, you could look really sharp.

1995: Computers with 100's to 1000's of colors

What "80s holdovers"?! You did realize "the 80s decade" was nothing more than 1978 becoming 1990, right?!

What's "'90s TV"?

Wouldn't that make it an 80s show? I'm joking. ;D

April 1990 is pretty much the same as the late 80s, while 1995 is the heart of the 90s. I think people overrate the differences between the 80s and 90s though. It was only the very late 90s that had a radically different vibe from the 80s.

"The 80s decade" was nothing more than 1978 morphing into 1990. So, naturally, 1989 wasn't that different from 1990.

Now that you mention it, the age is the same isn't it? I was wondering where he went. He got along with me last year and I didn't think he was all that bad, but he needs to cool it with fudging past posts. Plus the passive aggressive comments rather than debate the person because they're reply was too long.

Yeah, but he's also still in his teens. Not that it excuses things, but I just see it as a phase alot of people that age go through. Being too quick to jump on something and not entirely knowing what they're saying. People calling him a troll was a bit much. I don't think he's all that bad, he just needs to settle down.

MY biggest problem with both of them(Visor and Arctic fox) is that they think their opinions are facts. It just kind of comes off as a know it all! 8-P
