Subject: When did acid wash jeans stop being cool?
Written By: MarkMc1990 on 07/10/13 at 7:50 pm
Acid wash denim was a major staple of late '80s and early '90s fashion. Looking through family albums, I see them start to pop up around 1987 and linger around until about 1993 (in 1989 and 1990 in particular they literally seemed to be the only kind of pants I saw anyone wearing). Why was this style so short-lived? Retroactively, they're considered a very hideous fashion trend, but I kind of like the way they looked. If I saw this wash available in modern jean styles at the store I would probably be tempted to buy them.

I think you answered your own question, 1993 seems about right.

No, I'm sorry I don't remember ever wearing acid wash jeans early in the '90s. They were pretty much out of style by that time and I remember nobody at school wore them either. I would say maybe until 1990. After that they were out of fashion.
