As much as Bill Clinton is known for his success and his popularity as President, he is also known as the second President in American history to be impeached, and his administration was plagued with scandals (from the possibly big to the petty and ridiculous).

From Whitewater to Vince Foster to Hairgate and Travelgate, these scandals and investigations culminated in Clinton's impeachment by the House in November 1998 and his acquittal in January 1999 by the Senate.

Amidst all this, many on the right promoted dark conspiracy theories about the President, his wife, and his administration, and for the first time in modern American history, gridlock between the President and Congress truly paralyzed the government, the with government actually shutting down in 1995 and 1996 as a result of this.
