Subject: Direct to video movies on VHS- the b-movies of the '80s and '90s
Written By: yelimsexa on 03/18/13 at 7:06 am
Back in the days of the double feature in the mid-20th century, the movie prior to the feature would usually be the low-budget b-movie with superior quality. But after the double feature collapsed and drive-ins declined, this seemed to be the end of the original b-movie. But the rise of home video in the 1980s came a new breed of low-budget moviemakers, this time targeting the home video market. These direct-to-video flicks would only be shot on videotape, with 1982's Boardinghouse the first to do so. This continued into the DVD era until online streaming made it the medium of choice for whatever is considered a "b movie" today. What are some of your favorite direct-to-video releases from the '90s?
