Subject: Theory: Why the 90s were the best

ok so i felt for some years that the 90s were better but i pondered that it was because i was a kid and being a kid was better :p
but i think i have recently figured it out in a way i can explain, its all about the collective perspective lol
its like, we had the 80s with the explosion of like, everything. exponential growth, in all kinds of aspects.
the 80s rolled into the 90s and we rise up the exponential curve. there was this collective feeling that things were just getting better and better and better. computers were proving to be capable of changing the face of the earth forever. there were all these undeserved riches waiting to be made from stupid ideas. the days of barbaric practices were fading quickly while jobs were so much easier on average than they had ever been. acceptance and tolerance of all lifestyles was at an all time high. music and movies had giant tentacles, feeling their way into new and fresh waters all the time. new technology afforded new and exciting realms of quality in all categories. digital piracy took its initial place in the average home and gave regular people a myriad of free entertainment at their fingertips.
and we still had 2000 to look forward to! the great new millenium of the future! utopian society right around the corner... flying cars and virtual reality!
then 2000 came and brought with it... nothing. nothing really happened. it was still the same world with the same massive flaws.
by 2005 it was like... things are ok, i guess. but the influx of great new things is really slowing down and the influx of tedious new laws, regulations and other beureaucratic mumbo jumbo and pointless complexities is just gaining momentum. the huge problems we created with our dreamlike carelessness in the preceding decades are on their way back to bite us in the ass and we can see them coming. big discoveries are rare and we're left to smaller, less significant ones. theres little left to discover on the whole planet, removing some element of mystery regarding what we might find next. jobs are still easier physically but more useless crap getting piled into them every day. music sounds great but that sense of purpose behind it is dying. movies are getting dumber and less original by the day. acceptance and tolerance have somehow gone TOO far. the average person is far more aware of the barbaric practices in other countries and of our own governments. the USA is losing its hollywood allure to the world to be replaced with contempt for its political actions.
now, in 2012, i think its clearer than ever that the 90s were like some blissful crime. something that could only have happened by humanity being as short sighted and ignorant as we were and are. borrowed happiness that must be repaid in full. i predict that never again will the world, at least the western world, feel as powerful, carefree and united as we did then. the millenium of aftermath is officially here and almost everyone knows it.
of course this is mostly speculation, and i was a kid throughout the 90s so i have little factual information. but even now when u watch the 90s on film, hopefully ull see what im talking about. infact i watched Jim Carrey - The unnatural act (1991) which is what really made me think about this.. and it barely shows anything of the 90s. but i believe u can see the spirit of the 90s shine through, even in that.
ive spoken with rl friends and they agree, but im interested to see the opinions of some different demographics? :)

Yeah, things have changed: some for the better, and some for the worse.
The music was better then. However, if you really dig through the iTunes store, (particularly the electronica and instrumental music sections), there are still some great songs to be found.
Politics have become worse, in my opinion.
Gas prices are a heck of a lot worse.
Technology is far better these days.
TV is worse.
Society is a lot dumber.
Build a time machine back to the 90's and I'll go with you. Just let me bring my iPod though.

There needs to be a decadeology filter somewhere, where the second a person starts a thread like "Why the 90's are the best" or "Difference between 80's and 90's kids" or "I am 13 and I long for the halcyon days of my youth" the site can automatically direct the poster to the other 6,374 threads that have already been started about the exact same subject.

i kinda miss the 90s. apathy and slackerism are luxuries. i didn't think of it that way at the time. plus the 90s were the last decade there was a decent rock band.

And there's bound to be someone else who will say the same thing about the 70's, the 60's, and on back until we get people too old to remember the 20's and 30's, then again, Archie and Edith are no longer arrive to sing "Those Were The Days"! LET_IT_GO.

I think the next 90s kinda vibe would be around 2020s or late 2010s

Just wait another 10 years. I thought that about the 90's in the early 2000's, too, but today I am thinking totally different about that decade.
And I also don't think that the 00's had no culture and no definition.

the 2000s pop culture were very diverse and had 4 stages
1997-2002 teen pop,nu metal
2002-2005 r&b,glam rap,pop punk
2005-2008 snap rap,emo,dance hip hop
2008- electropop,electro hop

no one's going to say 00's were the best decade culturally, thats for sure... pretty bland overall
I think the next 90s kinda vibe would be around 2020s or late 2010s
Actually, while I think the 1990s were better overall, the 2000s wasn't bland in my book. Especially not 2000-06.

the 2000s pop culture were very diverse and had 4 stages
1997-2002 teen pop,nu metal
2002-2005 r&b,glam rap,pop punk
2005-2008 snap rap,emo,dance hip hop
2008- electropop,electro hop
1997-99 = / = 2000s. What's more 1997 is a different world to 2000:

"Last Cup Of Sorrow" - Faith No More
Beavis and Butthead
