The early and mid 90's movies, have that "Mostly very dated, yet still fairly recent feeling" kind of enjoyment and nostalgia. I used to feel like that with 80's movies.
Even late 90's movies are becoming retro. The late 90's still almost feel like yesterday, but are becoming more and more retro each year.

I know exactly the feeling you're talking about. The following movies feel recent, yet provide nostalgia:
Jurassic Park
Jumanji
The Mummy
Titanic
Home Alone
Matilda
The Mask
Mrs. Doubtfire
Heavyweights
Harriet the Spy
Edward Scissorhands
Pretty Woman
etc.
When I think really hard about it though, it makes me sad that many of these movies are almost 2 decades old. If I think of how long it's been since they came out, it feels like such a long time ago...
I'll always love these movies, though!
