I've seen this hair style in a number of films dating from around 1995-1996, hell even home movies which show teenagers from 1995-1996, show a lot of kids wearing this hairstyle or a variation of it:

It kind of looks like the Leo DiCaprio hair, I remember it. I think it came around '93 or '94, but peaked from 1995 - 1997.

all the boys at my highschool had the leonardo dicaprio haircut. i guess it
was cool back in the day. now looking back on it, not so much lol
