Subject: Paula Abdul Diet Coke TV ads

Back in the early 90s, Paula Abdul did a few TV ads for Diet Coke. I thought they were pretty enjoyable, and I found clips of them on Youtube:

The second and third ads are basically the same, except that the third one has Elton John in it. And the fourth one is a really cool concept. It has film footage of classic movie stars like Frank Sinatra and Groucho Marx edited to show them dancing with Paula!
It was actually these ads that introduced me to Paula Abdul's music in the first place!

I loved those commercials! Brings back so many memories. :)
I know I have at least a couple of those commercials on video somewhere.

I remember those adds as well from about 1989 or 1990. Good stuff.

I think I remember that one....it was set to a parody of "Promise of a New Day". At least I think so, unless it was something else.

I love Paula, so these were a real treat to see again. ;)
The best one though, is where the (at the time) current Paula was spliced in with footage of the '40s or 50s Gene Kelly (one of her idols) to make it look like she was dancing with him!

I just had a question about that one ad where Paula's dancing with those classic Hollywood stars. Does anyone know if it was originally made for the Superbowl? It's twice the length of a regular ad(one minute versus thirty seconds) and it looks like a lot of extra effort went into its production, what with having to combine all that old film footage with newly shot material. Usually, they only make those kind of high-end ads for the Superbowl.
