Subject: Were the '90s the peak of the primetime news magazine program?
Written By: yelimsexa on 01/30/09 at 9:45 am
Of course 60 minutes first went on the air in 1968, but it along with newer shows like 20/20, Dateline, Primetime, and 48 Hours not only were big at this time, but many (especially in the late 90s) expanded to multiple nights per week (Dateline was once on 4 times a week from 1997-2000!) One reason that contributed to its rise were the demise of primetime movie showings, forcing some series to move to a different night and allowing more timeslots for progrms. But since around 2001, this format has been losing interest in favor of more alternative programs and higher-priced programming such as reality and dramas.

I remember watching 20/20 every friday night with my family. It was so fun!
For some reason, it isn't anymore.
I stopped watching around 2000.
