Subject: 90's cars
Written By: guest on 10/12/08 at 7:03 am
I like many pre-90's cars. I like almost all of the cars that were produced in the 90's. However I like only a few of the current car offerings, it's just that I don't like the exterior design of most of the new cars. I prefer smoother, oval cars from the 90's like the Ford Escort (the European one) and Ford Fiesta (UK and Europe again). What do you think about them?

The '90s were kind of hybrid when it came to car designs. They were either boxy or round. I'll never forget our first round car. A 1994 Honda Accord. It amazed me.
And I agree. The cars of the 2000's just aren't as nice. There are still a few good looking ones like the newest versions of the Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry, but is anyone else sick of Crossovers? :P

Yeah, the oval cars starting around 1991 were a good balance between the totally boxy models before that, and the super rounded ones of the '00s. New cars are almost reaching that spaceship look lol, and they seem to focus more on luxuries than on the design. They'll probably be junkers once they get enough miles on them.
'90s cars were just fresher and more up to date after the boxies, but they still looked real. ;)

As a person that follows the car industry many people got tired of the blandness of 90's cars in the exterior design area. Many late 90's/early 00's car looked so similar it was just mind-boggling too most. Sure 90's cars look nice now but back 10 years ago oh my god the cars look so bland.
Those cars that I don;t like BMW's newer designs I am not a fan and nor of Audi's newer designs either. Mazda's newer designs look nice. Toyota's/Lexus(newer designs) to me look so bland too me with a few expections. Chrysler designs this decade have been terrible too.
I kinda of an agreement with Marty that some of today's car designs are not good but some are good too.
I think cars of the 2010's will look more conservative I mean the 80's had that box look as you reffered too but it kinda looked weird whereas the 90; cars as you said evolved in that box look. I'm think the 00's is gonna be like 80's in car designs.
As for the crossover trend as "Roadgeek" was saying I rather have people buying crossover's than the large to mid-size SUV's. I didn;t like the SUV trend of the late 90's/early 00's. Crossovers are not as popular as the Honda Accord or Toyota Camry anyway currently on the sales charts.

I think that US cars in the 1990s were bland, too.
However, some Japanese and European cars were far better-looking.
Car makers like Ford made a mistake by not selling some of them in the USA.

I absolutely love 90's cars. Cars nowadays are too flashy and just too much.
Does anyone know where I can find an online gallery of 90's cars?

I had a 96 escort and drove it for 5 years with absolutely NO problems. Never in the shop for anything other than an oil change. Its ironic because it was a FORD (bad reputation) and the CHEAPEST Ford available.
Afterwards, I had a Maxima and it gave me MANY problems costing thousands of dollars to fix.

Um the 1996 Ford was based on the Mazda Protege platform I believe back then. Forget it Nissan's reliability went down in the 2000's when Renault kinda bailed out Nissan becaise Nissan had money problems. Nissan's were pretty reliable in the 80's and 90's though. 1998 or 1999 was probably the last year of pretty reliable Nissan's that were as reliable Honda or Toyota at the time back in the late 90's. Every manufacturer does have mechanical problems with their cars though to be fair.
