"Drinking in L.A." was an international hit by Montreal based Alternative-Techno group Bran Van 3000

In 1998 (one year after it's initial release in Canada), it was released in the UK where it only peaked at #34, but the following year, it re-entered the UK chart at #3 after it's use in a TV advert for Rolling Rock Lager. Despite a second UK Top 40 hit in 2001 with "Astounded" (a collaboration with funk legend Curtis Mayfield), they are generally regarded as a one hit wonder in the UK.
Through all this success, they never had a hit in the Billboard Hot 100
