Pokemon here (in the UK) hit it big in 99'. I remember getting both red and blue for the gameboy for christmas that year. One of my best christmas's ever probably.
Was 13 back then, so I was probably a bit for old for it compared to most people, but I was pretty much involved in everything with it at time (although I had to keep it quiet!).
Fad died out though sometime in 2000 around when the 2nd movie was released.

I was a big Pokemon fan for about a year or two, roughly 1999-2001 or so. Once I started high school in 2001 I started to loose intrest.
