Being 10 years old at the time, I was pretty scared. When they were talking about it on the news with stuff like having ambluances and hospitals on alert, that got me scared. During the countdown, I was squeazing my mom's hand real tight. But then, nothing happened. All that happened was we entered a new year, new decade, new century, etc. Nowadays, I look back on that with laughter. ;D

I was 9 when all that stuff was going on. I've heard about it here and there but i had no idea what it was, nor did i care. I was just excited for it to become different decade, century, ect.

I never really got scared, maybe slightly, I knew that most likely nothing was going to happen though.

I was 12 at the time, so I really didn't pay alot of attention to the whole thing anyway. I recall that as it got closer to midnight on new years eve I started to get a little bit scared since everybody was talking about what was gonna happen and everthing, but I never really thought it was that big of a deal.

My little brother actually got me really good on Y2K. After a fruitless search for a New Year's party that our older brother had told us about, we wound up back at the duplex that my older brother and I were living in at the time, and it just so happened that one of the switches by the door turned off both the lamp by the door and the TV. When the countdown to midnight hit zero, the lamp and the TV suddenly went off and since we had no other lights turned on, the whole place went completely dark and I was like, "Oh, sh!t!" Then about 10 seconds later the lamp and the TV came back on and I looked over and saw my brother standing by the light switch with a huge grin on his face.
The bastard.

For me, Y2K sort of did happen. the moment midnight struck, I noticed my computer's clock flinched a little bit. It never worked the same after that .. would always give me incorrect time. I since smashed that computer to nits ;D

I was interested in it as a historical landmark, but I was pretty convinced none of those doomsday scenarios (i.e. the world exploding, or even every computer being reset to 1900) would happen. I did breathe the slightest sigh of relief once the ball dropped, though. ;)
As a personal thing, I thought it was pretty cool too. I knew it was probably the only Millenium turnover I'd get to see, unless I live to be 1018 years old in 3000 (although it's vaguely possible I might be around for the next century in 2100).

Yeah, it would be pretty cool to live to until 2100, I'd have to live to be 113, but who knows what the average life span may be by then. Btw I remember that whole thing about computers reseting to 1900 at the turn of the millenium, and I gotta say, it still seems just as stupid a scenario as it did then ;D

Some of the dataloggers I use at work reset themselves to 1980

That's strange. I guess there was some fallout from Y2K after all.

My oldest VCR packed up the first time i used it in Jan 2000 and I guess that was probably Y2K related.
