I got rhapsody.com recently, so for '90s stuff I've been listening to

Cruising for Bruising -- Basia
Another Night + Run Away + Come And Get Your Love -- The Real McCoy
I Could Fall in Love -- Selena
Bomb! (These Sounds Fall into My Mind) -- The Bucketheads
Learn to Fly -- Foo Fighters
Constant Craving -- k.d. lang
I Could Not Ask For More -- Edwin McCain
I Love Your Smile -- Shanice
Place in This World -- Michael W. Smith
Right Here (Human Nature Duet) -- SWV

:)

A quick edit to add the two songs I was listening to, and forgot to add, when I originally created this post

Baby, Now That I've Found You -- Alison Krauss & Union Station
Blowing Kisses in the Wind -- Paula Abdul (a really good song considering who it's by)

;)

Here are a couple of mine:

"All Around The World" by Lisa Stansfield (was a 1990 hit in the U.S.)
"Too Many Walls" by Cathy Dennis

I've actually enjoyed these two for at least a couple years now. I might think of more later.

I was lazy so I cut and pasted word for word from the thread I did in the 80s ;D

That one was great.  It was actually more successful than Oakenfold's Perfecto remix

I love both of those. :) I'd tend to categorize both as Alternative Ballads.

I Love that Song.  I've got great memories of seeing the Music Video for it on MTV all the time back in 1995/1996.  Such a depressing video

MTV was still playing music videos ten years ago? I thought they were already starting to jump the shark by then. ::)

No, smart elic  ::)

MTV didn't "Jump The Shark" until Late 1998/Early 1999

MTV stopped playing Music Videos on a daily basis around 2000 and started creating really bad original programming

Oh, okay. I wasn't exactly sure when they began all their weird shows. ::)

Other than Beavis and Butthead and a few other non-music shows, I almost never watched MTV in the '90s. Even in the early '90s they were mostly heavy metal and Road Rules from what I could tell (which is why I always preferred VH1), but I'd say the eras are sort of as follows:

1981-83: Infantry "Video Killed the Radio Star" era. Around the clock videos.
1983-86: Prime music focused era (i.e. Madonna, MJ, Springsteen, Prince).
1987-91: Remote Control/Headbanger's Ball era
1992-97: Road Rules era (less focus on music, especially softer or older, although still somewhat music oriented)
1998-2001: TRL era
2002+ RTV (Reality TV)

I guess that's one way of looking at it. I never really watched MTV at all during the 80's or 90's; that's because we never had cable then. The only times I may have actually "watched" the channel was when I was at someone's house. Same with VH1. At least VH1 was decent during 1996-99 with shows like "Pop Up Video".

Over ten years? Well it's been almost 10 years since that song came out (it was a hit in 1997)...and I've heard it on the radio a lot since then.

Few if any artists can make good albums after 20 years. The well runs dry eventually.

Ah brings me back to my High School Days those musical acts. Of course Matchbox 20 was still hot in the early 2000's though. Alanis and Third Eye Blind sort of fadded out when teen-pop exploded in 1999 though. "Never Let You Go' was the only Third Eye Blind hit after 1999 I think. Third Eye Blind could maybe be lableled influential for 2000's musical acts such as The Fray and Maroon 5 maybe.
