Subject: Jimmy Cliff - "I Can See Clearly Now" [1994]
Written By: WalkerP20 on 10/02/06 at 4:41 am
Remember this classic tune from Early 1994? I could listen to this song all day long, it's got such a great melody
It was on the soundtrack for "Cool Runnings" (R.I.P. John Candy)
Here's the music video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAEMwmwVJdU
Too bad we don't get songs like this today anymore

That was a hot hit in 1972 by Johnny Nash. ;)

I only know of the 1972 version. Although I more than likely have, unknowingly, heard the Cliff version.

^ Really? The newer version is the one most commonly played on the radio. It's a very poppy reggae, which was a big thing in 1993 and '94.

I more than likely have heard it several times, just not in recent years, the only one I've heard in recent years has been the Nash version, as that is the only one I have.

Well have you or haven't you? lol
I myself have never heard the original by Johnny Nash. Only the Jimmy Cliff (Reggae) version

This version is okay, but I do prefer the 1972 version over it.

Never heard of it until I found a compilation CD a few years ago.
Good song :)

I remember when this song came out, I really liked it. When it comes to Jimy Cliff, my favourite of his will always be 1984's "Reggae Night" :)

Yes, I remember this record. At the time it came out, I enjoyed it. I also know Johnny Nash's original version.

Johnny Nash's version remains (for me) the definitive one...
However, do NOT approach a rather horrid 1989 remix of it! :P

I always try and stick to the original version

Splendid stuff, Mr. Philip...
For that, I shall forgive you for 'owning' that Anita Dobson record!

The only version of this song to chart over here was one by Dutch singer Lee Towers, reaching #10 in 1982.
It's not that bad, but not that good either. There doesn't seem to be a video, so I can't show you.

This one is one of the rare times I liked a remake of a particular song. Both versions are pretty cool. :)
