For those who don't remember, Shabba Ranks was a Reggae/R&B Artist in the Early 90's (1991 and 1992 mostly)
His first hit single was pretty big, it was called "House Call" (featuring Maxi Priest). It had big success near the end of 1991. This actually happens to be one of my favorite 90's songs, it's extremely melodic and rhythmy/catchy. Here is the Music Video for it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0zpursEuvE
And then he had another big hit in the Summer of 1992 called "Mr. Loverman", here's the Music Video for it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Yo51MgNfY
And of course one of my favorite moments was when they made fun of him on "In Living Color" using Marlon Wayans to portray him ;D Here's the video clip of it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFDnfQWnqvE
Then not too long later, his reputation was pretty much crushed after some of his newer songs had a ton of homophobic lyrics and views, such as...
""Don't give a love to a man if you nuh seh him a mama man"
"If jamaica would a legalize gun / to kill battyboy would be the greatest fun""
""Inna me fi bed me no want Alfred/ me no want Tony/ me no want Ted/ me no promote Mama Man/ I leave Mamaman fi dead/ BAM BAM! me lick a shot on a mama man's head""
His career was pretty much shot down after that and was dropped from his label (He even managed to win 2 Grammy's)
So, did anyone else enjoy his "tunes" back in the early 90's?

I had forgotten all about him.
Mr Loverman on it's re-release reached number 3 in the UK Charts in 1993.

I dig "Woodtop" and "Mr. Loverman". There's a cool mix on the US 12" single of the latter.
