this was a show that came on in the late nintees. it was a LITTLE kids show about an alien who landed in a little girl's backyard. they became good friends. the girls parents treated the alien like a son. the alien was spotted. i don't remember what colors (after all i was only 3 or 4.) there was one episode where the whole family (including the alien) was going somewhere and had to look nice. the alien was selfconcious about his spots and tried to cover it up with the mom's makeup. she found out and gave the alien a big speech about how we should be happy with our appearance, and that it's what's inside that counts. (this alien didn't even speak english. i remember the way his voice sounded but can't describe it.obviously he understood english though.) please help. what is this show called?

Dang I'm stumped.  I'm guessing it was probably on a cable channel because I watched cartoons all the time in the late 90s but I didn't (and still don't) have cable.  It doesn't ring a bell, but hopefully someone else will come along that knows it.
