Subject: Will all the REAL '90s Fans Please Stand Up?
Written By: Donnie Darko on 06/21/06 at 3:29 pm
I've started to shift my loyalty from the '80s to the '90s, except for music ('80s music is the best!). I love both decades about the same.
All the real '90s fans, anyone born from 1969 to 1992 PLEASE stand up!

Man, I love the '90s so much. To me, everything about that decade was great from pop culture to my life.

I love the '90s...I'm definitely a "real '90s fan", in a kid sense.

The '90's: from music, tv (MTV still aired videos, good cartoons on Cartoon Network, etc), and some movies 8)

90s Fanatic here! 8) They were the only decade of the 20th century I really remember, and after all, 13 out of my 20 years (that's 65 percent :D) were lived in the 90s.

Joining you... ;D
Personally I loved my life in the 90s but culturally they were more cheesy than the 80s... music, tv and fashion wise. Haircuts were bad, especially men with like longish girlie hair. Color Me Badd sum up the 90s look...

How dare you! What good reason have you for saying that? ...I bet it's cos you were older in the 90s, so your atittude would be different from one who was a child in that decade.

It certainly would be different. I mean, I'm not a fan b/c I was too busy living (or trying to live) within that time frame. I do miss some things, but there are other aspects I don't miss just yet. They ended not too long ago, so any nostalgia that I may have isn't quite there yet. My late 70s and 80s nostalgia is full-grown b/c so much time has past to do so.

Maybe my judgements are biased but I'll stick to my comments. Please feel free to insult the 80s back. ;)

You know, I might be one of the few who loves the '80s and (most of) the '90s on an equal level. It's weird because alot of people who love one don't like the other (although that is changing a bit lately). I almost feel like a bouncer going, "Hey '80s! Stop punching the '90s, they were pretty good too, man!" ;D
Well, I like different stuff from both (although I have a preference to '80s music and '90s movies/TV), but one thing I'll say about the '90s personally, is that they were interesting and never boring as far as my own life. I went from 8 to 17/18 - that's a world apart! ;)
However, I was still a kid for almost the entire first half, so even if what was cool when I was 7 (1988/89) and when I was 12 (1993/94) was way different, I can still dig 'em both the same.

Okay sorry to hi-jack a "Fans of the 90s" thread once again, but I'll narrow it down a little. I loved the early 90s and late 90s... my main whine is with the 1993-96 era. You know the peak Baywatch years, tapered jeans and flannel shirts. Check out the Friends look in Season 1 to see what I mean. They looked older in Season one then they do now. Joey in this pic sums up that mid 90s look too.

The 'tapered jeans/flannel shirts' you describe are pretty much just early 90s - the mid-90s are really part of the mid 90s, although 1995 really stands out as something completely different from the periods 1992-1994 and 1996-1999.
