I don't know who any of those guys are :-[ I've heard of Eddie Vedder before, but I don't know what band he is with

Best being quite subjective in many ways. For range, Chris Cornell. For emotion and energy, Layne Staley.
Mike Patton of Faith No More should be on this list too. He has so many styles and range he is freakin' amazing.

This is hard..........probably a tie between Beck (I love his voice; LOVE it) and Eddie Vedder. Vedder's voice turns my knees to jelly.

In my opinion, the best male singers in the 90s were... eddie Vedder and Layne Staley... Great voices.. Chris Cornell has a great voice too! ;)

Layne Staley was with Alice in Chains
Chris Cornell was with Soundgarden, did a few solo projects and is now with Audioslave
Shannon Hoon was with Blind Melon (I think).
That would be why I've heard of none of them. The grunge rock movement flew right over my head :\'(

I'll have to say overall, Chris Cornell because his voice is just incredibly awesome - that range, that emotion.
But Eddie Vedder's technically my boy - he just does something for me.... :D

How about Harry Connick, Jr.? He was sorta a 90's artist. I like him a lot.

Hmmm... well I only knew one of those (Nick Carter), but to be honest I don't know if other people (besides myself) would recognize many of those.
