1. Alice in Chains - Dirt - One of the greatest albums ever.
2. Faith No More - Angel Dust - This album basically spawned all rap-metal as we know it, which falls woefully short of this masterpiece album. Listed by (I think) Kerrang magazine as the most influential album of all time.
3. Soundgarden - Down On The Upside - Their best album IMO. Apparently this was an import since amazon.com doesn't have samples of it. Outshined is still my favorite SG song.
4. Alice in Chains - Facelift - Love this one too.
5. Guns 'N Roses - Use Your Illusion 2 (&1) - Many great song on here like "Breakdown", "Locomotive" and of course "You Could Be Mine".
Honorable Mentions:
Nirvana: Nevermind, In Utero and Unplugged
Alice in Chains: Jar of Flies and Unplugged
Pearl Jam: Ten and Vs
Drain STH: Freaks of Nature
Alanis Morrissette: Jagged Little Pill
Metallica: Metallica
Tool: Aenima
Megadeth: Cryptic Writings
The Last Action Hero Soundtrack

REM - Automatic for the People
Very interesting choice. That is a very underrated album. There's a song on that album called 'Ignoreland' that is just phenomenal. That is one of REM's most overlooked albums, even among alot of their fans.

YOu have great taste. I cant believe there's someone else that thinks Rust in Peace and Seasons in the abyss are two of the best albums of the 90's. By the way, I seen those two bands with anthrax and alice in chains on the 'clash of the titans' tour in 1991. AWESOME show!! 8)

No way dude you ask any Megadeth fan who has some idea of what they are talking about, that's been into them from the beginning & they will probably say Rust In Peace.
Not ony is it the most tight & most musically technical album they ever did, but it's also the most consistant.
Youthanasia is a medeocre album at best, didn't think much of it then & don't think much of it now. Too slow & simplified compared to the first 4 albums.
As for skid row not being the name of nirvana in 1987/88, what in the f**k are you on about. You'd best lay off the pipe a bit & pay more attention in school. And i don't know if you have the ability to read, but the point of this exercise was to list your favourite albums from the 90s which you also failed to do LOL.
If you are saying what i think you're saying though, then all i have say is that not all of us were pre-teens in the early 90s who listened to nothing but Nirvana & grunge. I'm not knockin it, but there was other music being made & listened to other than grunge at the time.

Cheers dude, i'm glad someone else appreciated more than just grunge in the 90s. I mean yeah there were some great "grunge" albums at the time, but i think it almost seems like a most of the general population suddenly became completly oblivious to other styles of rock at the time & weren't even aware that bands like Megadeth & Slayer were still churning out albums.
Anyhow, that would have been a top notch show you went to. I wish i'd gone. Just saw Megadeth last year & the only time i saw Slayer was in 1995 for the Devine Intervention Tour & i think that was their first time doing a show in Australia aswell & last but not least i saw Anthrax during their original line up reunion tour just last year.

One of the things I hated about grunge was how it killed some other rock movements, and everyone was like sheep and they followed it. 'Speed' metal was fast becoming mainstream. Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Sepultra, and Death Angel were gaining in popularity. All types of people were getting into that music. These bands were getting airplay at all times of the day, not just at night or on Headbangers Ball. Then grunge hit and changed the musical landscape. I cant even imagine what the bands I just listed would have done if grunge never happened. Those bands seem to get jaded after grunge hit, and I think they realized that a huge opportunity had just died with the grunge explosion.
