Subject: When did SNL stop being funny?
Written By: audkal on 02/05/06 at 6:50 pm
I think probably around '99 or 2000 (plus, when my favorites, Chris Farley and Phil Hartman, weren't on the show anymore I thought it was going downhill--I was saddened when they both passed on, such a shame).

I've stopped watching SNL in 1998, I've watched that show since 1985! Of the 90's, I like the early 90's best. Those were some good years then.

1999, when I stopped watching.
Though only a few like Cheri Oteri and Chris Kattan were funny and since 1996 I was watching more of the repeats on Comedy Central

I voted SNL has never been funny, but only because I don't like the show as it is today.
I liked a few sketches from the 80's period of Eddie Murphy, Joe Piscopo, etc ...
I remember one sketch from 1984 where Joe Piscopo played Curly Joe in a sketch which had the Three Stooges teaching a karate class. As the scene progressed on, suddenly Piscopo's pants fall down, and you could tell by the look on the cast members faces, that it was not part of the sketch ;D

I watched SNL religiously in high school. Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey were my faves, with Dennis Miller and Norm McDonald getting honorable mentions for Weekend Update. For me, SNL lost much of its luster in the mid-90s. Will Ferrell was alright, but much of the cast that worked with him left me feeling less than satisfied.
