You didnt give the option for the hidden track at the end of the alternate track 13. 'You Oughta Know'
It's called "Forgive Me" or "Will you forgive me love?"

The reason I didn't put it there is because on the Track Listing it was called "You Oughta Know", so I figured it was the same song as the original that's already on the album. I figured we didn't need two

At first I said You Oughta Know, but I also really like Head Over Feet. It's hard to pick from such a great album.

which is the one with the line, "no fundamental excuse for the granted I'm taken for"? (alanis! So angsty!) it has this really lovely guitar coda at the end. I'ma vote for it but I forgot the name.

I've only heard the few hits. They're all good, but it's definitely "Ironic" - great 90's pop/rock. That was also the one I heard first. I wasn't buying alot of new music at the time, so the only way I heard current stuff was on the radio. I liked it on first listen too.
Out of the others, I like "Head Over Feet" and "Hand in Your Pocket" (both medium paced alt-pop) and of course, the p_ssed off "You Oughta Know". Some of the lyrics alone make that a classic, just on a musical level.
Never heard the other 10 though. ;)

I believe it's Not the Doctor (which I also loved).

I've updated the Original post to make it more indepth. From now on I will list which songs from the Album were Hit Singles and when they reached their peak on the Top 40 Charts 8)

hmm... come to think of it that guitar is kinda sitar-y... and alanis's chant at the end of the verses. i never noticed that before.
it is a great song. i gotta be honest, whenever these polls come up i don't necessarily vote for the best song so much as the most underrated one.

I never cared for her. When her songs were out in the '90s, it was just another whiney angry female to listen to, and I was hearing enough of that at work. ::)

I picked 'Head Over Feet', but honestly I didn't really care for Alanis after she switched to Alternative Rock. Prior to this album, she was well known across Canada as a dance-pop artist. I was a big fan of her in those days :)

That was "Wake Up."
I picked "Mary Jane," not a hit, because the words touched me most.
It truly was an incredible album, every single song.

It does have that vibe. All I Really Want is my fav, when I listen to it, it has a Beatle'esque sound like when they went thru their middle eastern period with the Maharishi and it sounds like something they could have wrote or performed. thats my take and thats my choice, 2nd Ironic, 3rd You oughta know

"You oughta know" reminds me of the weekends we would go looking for old stagecoach trails as well as researching old "underground railroad" houses.
