A kid's social life at school, what they wore, what music they were into, etc.

Seinfeld, the Goo Goo Dolls, Jurassic Park, my grandparents, and many other things.

The Clinton/Lewinski scandal, unless you're talking personal event, probably going to a roller skating place in town called "Skate World", it was awesome, but they closed it in like '97.

I get a feeling of peace, because it was a great time, and then a feeling of disappointment, because I am no longer there.

90's events (political, economic, technological advances, etc), trends in music and clothes, movies would be nice too.

The O.J. Simpson Trial (seemed like it dragged on forever)

From a cultural perspective, economic growth, cool graphics and technology, overall an air of optimism that we were heading into the 21st century. From a personal perspective it is definitely the most influential decade in shaping the way I am now, in 1990 I was a clueless spoiled brat who dreamt of venturing into outer space but over time I matured and learned things the hard way in middle school and high school, all of the experiences which made me decide on my college major in 1999, Computer Engineering.

The evolution of technology (internet, cell-phones) as well as the feelings of optimism I described in 4).

The decline in quality of music/movies/tv (e.g. MTV)

1994 - I felt a lot more free, I was 13 years old and was enjoying myself, my metabolism was a lot better as was pop culture in general, including music and movies, probably my last year before I started to worry about high school, college and the rest of my freakin' life.

Although TONS of things stick out in my mind, quality Nickelodeon comes to mind.

- Every Christmas.  Christmas was Great for me every year in the 90's.  Life just didn't get any better than Christmas in the 90's

- 1995. Smack dab in the middle of the 90's, it was great for Music and events everywhere.  I can't really explain why I love 1995 so much, but whenever I think about 1995, I get chills down my spine because of how fun of a year it was

- Breaking my Arm on January 6th, 1994 (Yes, the same exact day that Tanya Harding had a guy hit Nancy Kerrigan in the kneecap with a tire iron.  We both felt unbearable pain that day  ;D)

1. What would you like to see a documentary on from the 90's?

Probably something like a cross of what you'd see on A & E and VH1. Stuff that included alot of interviews, then and now features (even though not THAT much has changed since the late 90's anyway), and detailed everything from the "late 80's-ish" start of the decade, to the precursor to today, which began around '97.

Something fun to watch, but also with its moments of serious and insightful points too.

2. What does the 90's make you think of?

Rise of Alternative rock, easygoing/Liberal politics and lifestyles (even if it was less "sex minded" than the previous 80's were), Seinfeld. Beavis & Butthead, coffee shops, silly comedy movies, animated TV shows and movies, talk shows, rap, Internet age.

3. What was the event or highlight that you remember from the 90's?

None in particular that stand out above the rest. It all shaped me in different ways.

A great mix of 80's technology/certain pop culture, with a 2000's lifestyle.

6. What was the best thing from the 90's?

As mentioned above, an overall carefree style of living. People always said "Hey, it's the 90's" (esp in the earlier part of the decade) when talking about things like, say a guy and a girl being "just friends" or living together, etc. Shows like Seinfeld crystalized things like this very well. Also, it was the golden age of sitcoms, talk shows and alot of TV/movies.

7. What was the worst thing from the 90's?

A slide into more rap/hip hop oriented music (as well as teen pop), less creativity and more anger, and overall a seemingly less "friendly" nature with everyone. Not that stuff like road rage didn't exist before, LOL, but many more people seemed to display these tendencies in the past 10 years. ;)

8. What was your favourite year and why?

A. Personal experience - 1999. In my Junior year of HS, did a mix of hanging out and having fun with friends, to getting my first real job. In short, it was the first year I started to really have an idea where I wanted the rest of my life to go. Unfortunately it was also the first year (at age 17-18) I began feeling old. ;D

B. Pop culturally - 1992. Here was kinda the perfect mix of the 80's and 90's. There was still a little late 80's left. The 90's styles were basically all the way in, but hadn't quite become gangsta rap and grunge everywhere you looked yet.

9. What do you remember the most from the 90's? (It can be a film, song anything...)

TV shows: The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Home Improvement, Jerry Springer, latter-day Full House.

Songs: "One Headlight" Wallflowers, "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" Offspring, "The Sign" Ace of Base, "I Swear" All 4 One, "To Be With You" Mr Big. And anything from Weird Al Yankovic in that period! ;)

Movies: BTTF 3, Ace Ventura 1, Forrest Gump, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dumb & Dumber, Wayne's World

I forgot to add, during the 90's I was age 8-17 (that's a WAY bigger change than I'll make on any other decade!). So, even though I prefer the 80's overall, at least the first half of the 90's still has enough good growing up memories for me to feel attached to it.

I tend to prefer it only up to about 1996 though. Like, the time before high school.

1997 is borderline (I was a Freshman that year) but 1998/99 is too much like today and I still don't feel hardly any older. So I don't look back on the later part of the 90's as fondly.

A very unlikley documentary about the progression of the North Carolina Highway System in the 90's.

A lot of things. I remember going to Carolina Circle Mall. The greatest mall! It had a Montgomery Ward, carousel, food court, theater, and cafeteria. It closed in 2002 unfortunately. I also remember the cool commercials back then like Burger King Kids Club and that Christmas McDonald's Commercial with that runaway girl. I'd get up early on Sunday mornings and watch Nick Arcade and Family Double Dare with my mom and on Saturdays, Nickelodeon GUTS.

Getting our first computer in 1995. It was a Packard Bell with Windows 95.

the World War II nostalgia movement. that's something i always wanted to see a research paper about -- the enola gay exhibit, the 50th anniversary of D-Day and V-Day, stephen ambrose and "the greatest generation" and saving private ryan and all that. it was a crazy popular movement.

The time when music was still made by real bands and real talented people, of course there were our Macarenas and others, but the big bands still seemed real. Unlike today, Pussycat dolls, 50cent and others would have been taken as a jokes 10 years ago.

I would like to see a documentary about 1990s music and the culture.

It makes me think of fashion revivals and fashion mistakes!! I wish I could tell you that I didn't fall in with the lime green and orange fad of 1996, but hey, I was only 11!

I also think there was a lot of great music out there - especially here in the UK with the indie/brit-pop era. The late 90s music was generally bad with the rise of certain genres such as nu0metal and all this teen-pop, but you have to filter that out to get to the good stuff.

Euro 1996 - if any of you watched when Gareth Southgate missed that penalty then you know what I mean!!

Hmm, the 90s gave us some great tv shows - Friends for example. But I gotta say the music from 'real' bands. It's getting better again slowly, but bloody hip hop still dominates grrr.

I rememeber my first kiss at the tender age of 11, reading those Choose Your Adventure Books ( how good were they!) listening to the top 40 on the radio and recording all my favourite songs :s I did that from 1994 til around 2000 I think!!
