Subject: Favorite "#1" Hit from 1998

Written By: TarzSp on 11/09/05 at 7:46 pm

(The rules are that you can now vote for only "2" songs at the most)

Also, i've added the exact Date that each song hit #1 for the very first time on the Top 40 Charts

This is a Poll, and on every one is going to be a list of all the songs that Reached #1 on the Top 40 Charts in America that year

Remember, this is the American charts, just so you guys aren't confused

Anyway, pick your favorite #1 Hit song from 1998  8)

I voted for Natalie Imbruglia, but it didn't take.  Oh well

I am a big Imbruglia fan.  Her recent third album is excellent  8)

Uninvited by Alanis and The Boy is Mine by Brandy and Monica. I loved Madonna's Frozen as well.

I voted Frozen by Madonna and Thank You by Alanis. I would also have liked to have included Uninvted, because it too was a great song. I remember likine "Jumper" a lot in those days.

Brandy & Monica... great song!

Natalie okay too. The rest pretty dire. I loved my club music during this stage, mostly underground club hits.

I absolutely love the Goo Goo Dolls, IRIS is awesome!

I didn't really remember Mariah Carey having any popular hits during those years but she has been on the 97 and 99 post with songs as well???

Now please dont take offence to this anyone but i live in Australia and you can imagine  how much airplay Savage garden got.

Truly madly Deeply.......... LOL ! That song is a rip off of another Australian Artist - Diesel.
The music was stolen from a diesel song called Come together and they made a no.1 hit out of it.

This angers me.
Now i know alot of you arent familiar with Diesel, but seriously Savage Garden are an extremely overrated band so im not going to mock anyone who likes that song or even voted for it.........Im just educating you to the antics of savage garden.

No worries... I hate "Truly Madly Deeply" anyway!

Did like their "I knew I loved you" though.

Crap.  Although I like "Together Again" I meant to choose "Frozen" along with "Uninvited".

Even though by then, music was taking a downhill slide, there's several cool songs on the list. I ultimately went with "Torn" (great mid-paced alt pop song) and Aerosmith's "comeback" power ballad "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing".

Honorable mentions: Iris, Jumper (better than "Semi Charmed Life") and Thank U.

It was from 1998, first half of the year. :) I remember because it was popular just around the time that I graduated from high school.

Anyway, here are my picks (and again, I can't narrow it down):
"Truly, Madly, Deeply" - Savage Garden
"Frozen" - Madonna
"Torn" -  Natalie Imbruglia
"Uninvited" - Alanis Morissette
"One Week" - Barenaked Ladies
"Thank U" - Alanis Morissette

"Iris"  -  Goo Goo Dolls  (August 1st)
and
"One Week"  -  Barenaked Ladies  (October 10th)

Honourable mention:
"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"  -  Aerosmith  (August 22nd)

"Iris" and "One Week."

I remember buying the soundtrack to "City of Angels," a movie I didn't even see, because it had "Iris" and "Uninvited" on it, along with some good songs by U2, Jimi Hendrix and Paula Cole.

Wrong. 1991 was the best year for 90's music.
