Subject: The 2 Unlimited Poll

Written By: whistledog on 10/01/05 at 11:19 am

2 Unlimited were the Netherlands dance duo of vocalist Anita Doth and rapper Ray Slijngaard

In 1996, after 13 UK top 40 hits, Anita and Ray decided to call it quits due to creative differences.  2 years later, producers brought in two new vocalists: Marion and Romy, lasting through one moderately successful album before calling it quits

I voted for Twilight Zone, No Limit and Jump For Joy (the latter being the only single not reaching Top 10 in The Netherlands as far as Ray & Anita are concerned).

Personally, I think Marion & Romy should have never gotten into this project. It was doomed to fail - there was NO WAY they could ever replace Ray & Anita. Still, Wanna Get Up reached #10 over here...

Both Anita (born 25 December 1971) and Ray (born 28 June 1971) tried to launch a solo career, but failed miserably.
Anita released two singles (as far as I know): Universe (1999) and Lifting Up My Life (2000).
Ray released one single that I know of: 3x A Day (1997).
Marion = Marjon van Iwaarden (born 18 June 1974), Romy = Romy van Ooijen (born 18 November 1971). They split up in 1999.

It was a big mistake adding Romy and Marion I agree, even though I really loved 'The Edge of Heaven'.  Rather than use the 2 Unlimited name, they should have just been a whole other group :)

I remember when Anita's solo album "Reality" came out, I almost considered buying it, but since it wasn't a wide release, i would have had to import it for an expensive price, and I didn't really want to take the risk as it might have not been that great of an album LOL

Twilight Zone sure was catchy.

it sure was :)

My only vote goes to "Get Ready For This", which was a U.S. hit in 1994, but I do happen to know that it was recorded in '91.

I voted for "No Limits", "Get Ready for This" and "Real Things".

To me, "No Limits" is probably the best dance song ever! It's great!

One thing I sometimes wonder about; whenever I saw interviews with Ray and Anita in English, they seemed to be speaking with American accents. How's that possible if they're Dutch?  ???

I just updated the main post with chart positions.  The US Dance chart may not be complete, but I can only assume

Twilight Zone and "other" as Get Ready For This is not up there.

The poll somehow got screwed up when the forum went down a while back

"Twilight Zone", "Here I Go" and "No Limit" get my top three.  "Maximum Overdrive" is a close 4th.  Hot Tracks put out a wicked remix of that track back in the day that speeds up to about 170 BPM halfway through the song.  :D
