I'd say 1997, but 1994 is close. 1998 and 99 were good even though I dislike their vibe. 97 beats 94 for worst because 1994 had the Beastie Boy's Ill Communication.

What kind of Grunge was there in 1990 besides AIC "Facelift"? Grunge wasn't big until the fall of 1991.
1994 sucked but had some good, 1995 and 96 were sorta boring but were the last years that felt old school, and 97 sucked a**. I like 98 and 99 but they have almost zip nostalgia pontential for me.
