Subject: Love Them or Hate them?

I'm started a regular weekly thread, where each week we can discuss a particular music artist (or maybe movie star, tv personality.etc), and debate their failings and merits. It should be interesting...if it lasts.
This week....The Smashing Pumpkins
Of course I'd have only positive things to say about them...one of the most influential altern/'grunge' bands of the mid-90s, made some of the best music ever.

Uhh I'm undecided. I like 2 songs (only 2)
I can't stand his voice so I don't want to listen to any more music by them.
Also whilst I'm on about Billy Corgan, I don't like Zwan.... simply because they are the same and also because of the defective bass player (fancy leaving APC for Zwan.... more fool you lady!!!!)

i liked smashing pumpkins but they were far from being my favourite 90s band.

I like "Zero", but I don't care for their other material.

How can anyone listen to Siamese Dream and NOT like it? :) And yeah, Zwan was another story altogether...

They always had one song that rocked per album...
...but for me it ended at one song.

Nah,I don't think the Smashing Pumpkins are much good.
For a start I can't listen to Billy Corgans voice without grimacing...his
voice is really awful!!!
The only song I find (just about) ok is Tonight Tonight but it's far from
being outstanding

I happen to like Billy Corgan's voice.
I personally can't stand pure naturally beautiful voices very much. I can stand like maybe one or two Whitney Huston songs but for the most part I'm not big on the "Voice". Although I will say I love Elton John's and Bryan Adam's Voices.
1979 and Tonight Tonight are great songs.
I also liked the way they redid "Landslide".

Smashing Pumpkins was never my cup of tea ( they had a few songs I like ). Billy Corgan's voice grated my ears after a while ( he sounded like he was singing through his nose not his mouth ), unlike Chris Cornell's or Layne Staley's who are ( were in the latter case-R.I.P Layne ) MUCH better vocalists, both scale-wise and in Layne's case emotionally. So basically I don't like them.

This will sound odd...but I liked what I heard of them...but knew that other then Siamese Dream, I wouldn't buy their albums. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I found myself liking the songs of theirs that got airplay, but their B sides didn't quite do it for me. I did buy Siamese Dream, though.
