Perms were big in the 80s. They just carried over from then. By the 90s a lot of women wasn't using them as much. Straight hair came into play again.

When did perms give way to straight hair?  I'd say about 1993 based on DJ's hair from Full House.  The teased hair died totally in 1994 with Friends and the Rachel cut.

Bad 90's hair: I didn;t like the Vinalla Ice hairstyle with the spiked hair. I had spiked hair once and I hated it. I was looking at some of Mom's tapes(this was maybe before CD"s) she had from the early 90's. Mariah Carey had some bad hairstyles in the early 90's with the long hair but it was kinda curled on her covers for her tapes.

I think that STRAIGHT HAIR is awful!  It's better than hair statues, but come on, have you any creativity?

I think straight hair is fine, sometimes...it's very, very '90s or '70s. This goes along with what I was thinking about how we'll discover how cheesy, if in a less totally flamboyant and glammy way than the '00s or '80s, alot of the '90s was...I'd say it was more "fun" though.

Bad, bad '90s hair-

-That really long, ratty look on guys. Like down to the shoulders long and greasy and grungey.
-Multicolored rave hair.
-Spiked blonde hair (it has its charm, but it's one of the bad things about 1999.)
-Bald head (I don't hate it but I don't love it)

Good '90s hair:

-Straight hair within boundaries.
-The Uma Thurman cut and the Rachel and Mariah Carey perm within boundaries.
-The "Elaine" haircut (long, thick, curly hair set down with scrunchy buns)
-Messy scrunchy buns.
-Contained "grungey" hair...like not Kris Novoselic without showering for a year.

Exactly.  Every time has its own Cold War.  In the '40s, it was Nazis (for good reason then), in the '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s it was Commies, in the '90s it was kidnappers, and in the '00s it's crazy suicide bombers.

I remember being really scared if I was out on my own,even during the day.
I guess some of it came from the media forever going on about Mark Dutroux when he escaped from prison.
There was alot of hype about him here in Luxembourg.
