Subject: Anyone ever heard of UK band The The?
Written By: goodsin on 02/23/05 at 12:14 pm
If not, I'd recommend listening to the album 'Mindbomb'. Not only did it predict some of today's climate (Armageddon Days Are Here, The Beaten Generation), but it is also has one of the finest love songs I have ever come across, Kingdom of Rain, a beautiful duet with Irish singer Sinead O'Connor. Smiths fans will recognise the name Johnny Marr, who played on several of the songs on the album. I urge anyone who reads this to listen to the album!

I have. They were more of an 80's band rather than an 90's band. They released singles in the 80's such as "Heartland" and the "Beat'en Generation".
I think you should've posted this on the 1980's board rather than on here.

I used to get him (it, the the) mixed up with Soft Cell. Didn't The the dude play all the instruments in his song(s) or was that Soft Cell that did it :D. Still mixed up between these two - they're just wacky, but I like 'em!

Well, I wasn't looking for this but since I stumbled across it...
Yes I know The The. I don't have MindBomb, but I do have Soul Mining (1983), Dusk (1993) and NakedSelf (2000). Plus I also happen to have the single Armageddon Days Are Here (Again) (with the mindblowing lyrics "If the real Jesus Christ were to stand up today/He'd be shot down cold by the CIA" - which make you think, really...)
Matt Johnson (for it is him that makes the "band") tends to get a bit repetetive, however. I don't enjoy listening to NakedSelf as much as I do Soul Mining or Dusk. I especially love Soul Mining (This Is The Day, Uncertain Smile, Perfect etc.)
And just for the record: Mind Bomb was released in 1989, so basically this topic should be in The 1980s. ;)
